Well really it should be down to the parents. But no, I wouldn't say Skins is the right programme for a 12 year old to be watching...

NO...she should be in bed at that time anyways.......

In my opinion, no. Check the classification on the DVDs, probably 15s.

That's my biggest problem really and I don't think you saying anything would actually cause a change as a result...Nothing really you can do unless you find something alternative for her to do when the show is repeated (but probably unmanagable). There'll always be a way she can see it anyways if she really wants to - friends, recordable DVDs, buying the series, YouTube, etc.

    🤪

why do some parents want their kids to grow up so fast at 12 she is still a child.those years go by so fast we should try to hang on to them for as long as possible.what sort of impression of life would skins give to a 12 year old..........

    I would say No.
Mention it to your Aunt or Uncle.
I remember mentioning to my Uncle once when my 8 year old cousin was watching James Bond - because of the sexual references and what not. At the time the house was packed and my Uncle didn't realise his son had been watching this and went to find something more suitable for him to watch straight away.
He appreciated that it had been pointed out to him, so you shouldn't worry about mentioning it to your aunt.

Apparently Skins reflects youth culure, sex/drugs and swearing.....

Ironically, Skins is about young teenagers growing up too fast...

OP, I don't know. Depends on how mature she is. Not all 12-year-olds are young kiddies - and I don't mean that in a bad way. When I was 11/12 I used to be glued to Blackadder but most of the racy stuff went over my head. However I appreciate Skins is a lot more racy.

But as I said, depends on her level of maturity. If she's mature, she'll just see it as a TV show... if she's very impressionable, probably not the best. Jesus, in a year's time some of her peers will be having sex/drinking... :(

It's 18's so no,she should not be watching it. At that young age she might stupidly think all teenagers actually act like that and since she is coming to that age,she might try a few things too.

That might sound a bit over the top,but the show portrays all the things they do as normal teenage behaviour.

Even Hitler Josef Fritzl wouldn't have let his 12 yr old watch Skins.

Skins goes out at 8 a.m. ?

    Where?

I though 8 a.m. was reserved for newsy chat shows and bob the builder, not 18 cert rated, post-watershed programming.

actually e4 is a channel that has 3 hours of shows for most of the day that gets put on loop.

and to answer the original posters question. NO, a 12 year shouldnt be watching skins. And it has nothing to do with maturity either, she shouldnt watch it, end of story. My sister is 13, and I wouldnt be happy if she were watching it. Let kids be kids. They grow up too fast anyway, they don't need encouragement from every angle.

As for your aunt. Just tell her. You can say it in a way that's not quesrtioning her parenting. Work it into conversation. "Oh
    by the way, I saw
watching skins the other day, hope its ok that I let her watch the rest of the episode" or something like that.

ok i think you are all being a bit mean i don't think the child should be watching it but i know when i was that age and if my sister was watching something that was completely unsuitable for me i get my way around it some how and watch it either with repeats or any way i could i'd hid behind the couch even to watch it it really hard with kids today every thing on telly they shouldn't be watching there not really any good role models even miley cyrus who is sixteen has moved her 20 yr old boyfriend in with her and shes ment to be 5 -12 yr olds idol so kids are gonna grow up faster things were alot simpler when i was a child but what can you do

    What can you do?

You can say "Sorry, you cant watch skins , you're only 12".

And you can do this under any of your boards accounts.

I think that a show about racy issues and smoking J's is probably not the best thing for a twelve year old. Honestly I think that its not siutable for somebody that young OP

Yeah let her watch it. It might help her avoid becoming a D4.

Well the BBFC have classified it at 18. That should tell you it ain't suitable for any 12 year olds.
