    Hi all,
I have bought a 4x4 on e-bay and I am wondering if anyone knows anyone who does car transport for private buyers. NVD and Green Tiger Transport seem to only look after garages/trade. Any help would be great as I don't want to leave it to long before collection.
    Cheers.

It's a bit dodgy to post your phone number on the internet, jimboire. You might want to edit the number out...

Would you not fly over and drive it back yourself? Only cost you about €400 tops all-in.

    Flight + Train/Bus + fuel + ferry ... doesn't add up to a whole lot ;)

    €400 sounds cheap to me.

Your not alone, I bought a Lada Niva 4x4 over eBay.
I saved a fortune by meeting the seller in holyhead.

I got a lift to the ferry terminal in Dublin and went over as a foot passenger, had the seller meet me on the other side and came back with the Car.
I would have collected it from his yard, but like yourself I had bought un-inspected so didnt want to risk breaking down in a foreign country
Theres no harm in driving down from Dublin then as you have some leeway with VRT etc.

Mud plugging you say? Im in Cork myself and cant find anywhere to go without seriously pissing people off:D

I'm not sure whether you're doubting me or whether you're suggesting that OP should follow my suggestion.

In case its the former though ...

Flight from Cork-Stansted (Ryanair) €46 including taxes & charges
Ferry from Holyhead-Dublin (Stenaline plus) €141

That leaves over €200 for fuel/buses/trains/food/anything extra you might encounter.

I'll hopefully be doing exactly the above this weekand fully expect to have change from €400. ;)

    +1

For transport of a car from Somerset (which is a bit out of the way to say the least), to Irish destination 400 euro sounds cheap if anything. To get car shipped from centre of England (eg around Birmingham) to Limerick costs me 400 euro plus VAT.

Obviously driving it home is cheaper as other posters say, but it will take you a day of so. Depends on how you value your time.

Just to add to what I posted earlier. These are the prices I paid this morning for travelling over to the UK tomorrow to collect a car. ;)

Will update Thursday when I know how much the 3 trains, 1 bus and fuel/food set me back. :o

    Hi,

I never used this company but they quoted me £325 last year to bring an A4 from the UK. Didn't need them in the end as a friend drove it over for me but from what I remember he seemed decent to deal with.

    Anyway, link is ..

Thanks again for all the suggestions, here is the outcome. The seller is going to drop it to Pembroke where Irish Ferries will load it and hold it in Rosslare as freight for €170+VAT. I must pay the seller an extra €100 to deliver it to there and I need to get from Cork to Roslare to collect. Still I think it is a good deal.

Also I found a website called www.shiply.com where you can put up what you want shipped and people tender you for the business. They are affiliated with E Bay,so you just enter the Item no. I got some crazy bids/quotes though i.e.£675.
