battery / power issue

    Hi,

Got some great advice here last year but I'm afraid I'm back looking for more.

My PowerBook G4 (O S x 10.3.9) has suddenly stop recognising my battery - powers off once I pull out the supply / always at 0% when power plugged in.

I got a new battery last year because the old one was loosing power suddenly (but still OK) so I have been able to try both batteries with the same result.

I had to replace the power supply about a year and a half ago and I have a non apple branded one - "macally" power supply

Also its a bit tempermental - won't come one straight away. Have to twist the connector / plug in & out until you get it on. Don't think this is the problem because it does not explain why battery not being recognised.

I also noticed the PowerBook G4 Battery updater in Utilities so I tried that to see if it would help but get message when I hit Update - "Your power adaptor must be plugged in. You must have a 65W power adaptor plugged in a working power source during the update process". and then does not start the update process. Not sure if this help in any way.

Once again would appreciate any suggestions / advice.

    - gallantman
