Traffic survey

hi all -long time reader of this forum here and I have not seen this mentioned before so here goes:

I have just had my planning application refused. I intended on sharing an existing entrance but this has been classed as a hazard by the council even though it's in use on a daily basis and there would be no increase in traffic using this entrance as I am living there anyway.
As the road speed limit is 80kph the council now require 145m sight lines at my entrance rather than the expected 90m sight lines and this is not possible due to a bad bend in the road.

I have been advised to organise a traffic report or a road survey of some sort, I am not exactly sure what it is called? This person would measure the traffic on my road especially at the bend in the hope that the average car speeds are not coming around the bend at 80km.
If I can prove cars are not coming around the bend at 80kph my hope is that the sight line requirement will be reduced and planning will be granted

Has anybody experienced a similar situation ? Any help is much appreciated.

    I've had something similar.

I got in touch with a guy who does traffic reports and he was extremely helpful. In the end, we didn't do it as the cost of the traffice report was a bit silly and my client found an alternative site.

It might be worth pointing out that we aren't laughing at manufan16 but laughing because "Smashey" recently changed his name to Susannah for reasons beyond me, but it seem that there is a lot of tranny mods on boards at the moment. Maybe Muffler will be next :D

What county are you in. I am in Waterford and they have just given planning permission to a bloke with nil sightline on one side. It may help as a precedent for you.

Try the local Council Engineer. If he will prepare a letter saying Alignment doesnt allow speeds of 80km/hr & that the existing entrance is not causing a traffic hazard, you would have a good chance.

Hi I have the same problem. The council have refused my planning on the grounds of the access to the property could cause an accident. The access comes on to a country lane then on to a B road but has been in constant use for 50 years. I've lived there for 38 years and never known an accident it all that time. Is it worth appealing. I have half built a 12m by 6m shed and had to apply for retrospective planning. The build itself is not the issue it's the access and I can't see there logic with the amount of time the drive has been there. Can anyone give me advise on this please.
