    Hi

I have a 1997 Alfa 146 1.6 petrol car. The back of the car shakes alot on rough surfaces and the back of the car starts to slide on the road. This happens on bends on roads and I dont be going over 60mph. What could be the cause of this?

Ask the driver of the recovery truck to stop and when he does have a look at the kingpins and and rear leaf springs on the recovery truck. Any wear here could lead to the truck swaying back and forwards. Also if its on a tow boy then I suggest to keep the speeds a little slower than 60 :D

Yeah, right ...pull the other one...

Can we have a thread without the usual jokes please? Even though it is actually about an Alfa?

    Thx

Sorry sorry sorry...its just an Alfa thing.

Worn shocks and suspension links would be the most likely but it might be just as simple as low pressure in the tyres. I'd check that first.

Worn shocks probably. Check out the cost of Koni replacements before paying for originals. I had a Fiat Tipo and it was cheaper to fit Konis than the OEM parts.

I think I had to replace the original rear shocks at about 35k, one of them actually broke in half. The Konis lasted twice as long and are still good.
