I've NO life, watching an old episode of the
    Gilmore Girls (4.01 - Ballroom & Biscotti) on E4
where Rory and Lorelai are just back from touring Europe....
    In it, Lorelai says

"Anyhow, we were in London and we ran into this group of girls who were heading to Ireland to stake out the Clarence Hotel"

"Because U2 owns it and Bono hangs out there"

"So then we jumped on a train and we headed to Ireland - incredibly beautiful, by the way - and we sat in a bar for two days and did nothing but eat soda crackers and funky cheese and he never showed"

Surely SOMEONE on set knew you cannot get a train to the ISLAND of Ireland!!!!

    Rant over!

    Nonsense!

It makes perfect sense.. they just failed to mention the group of girls they met were students in Hogwarts!

    :pac:

EDIT: Gilmore Girls was an incredibly well-written show for the most part.. the first few seasons were fantastic!

Their chirpy banter with no punctuation and breaks of more than a nanosecond before the retort drives me mad. Hate it.

lol, this gave me a laugh. Hate that stupid program anyway. Just because the lightning is dialogue is lightning fast dont mean that it's clever.

    Lazy writing.
I met a couple of american engineers a few years ago.
They told me that until just before they left, they were under the impression that they could drive to Manchester (one of their sister's lived there).

    Amy Sherman obviously failed Geography.

Forget about the train - there's no bar in Ireland that sells "soda crackers and funky cheese".
Or maybe that's just fancy talk for a packet of Tayto?

It reminds me of the Ireland Simpsons episode where the family got a double decker bus from the Giant's Causeway to Dublin to the Blarney stone and back to Antrim in the one evening!

Maybe American's think that we have super water trains and speeding buses that go 200 miles an hour!

Apparently only the red ones (as seen on the show) can do that..... ;)

Never saw one of them, though.....the leprechauns must be using them all to head off to ceilis with the fairies.....

train from london to hollyhead, ferry to dunLaoghaire, dart into town.

done it more than once :) and technically, from london you do hop on a train and head to Ireland

They didn't see Bono because they just ended up in a pub in Brighton, thinking it was Ireland.
