Aer Lingus seat configurations

    Hi -

I usually fly once a week from DUB to DUS and nearly always book in online so I can pick my seat. Today I logged in to check-in online and saw a different seat configuration for the EI698 flight . Normally the plane is a A320-214 so rows 1 - 29 are available ( I know not all can be selected via this method of check-in ) But today 1 - 30 was available ?

Just wondering was it a mistake or is it going to be a different plane other the usual A320 - I know EI have A321s but these usually have rows 1 - 3x something . Or it just a mistake on the website check in ?

    Cheers

Did you notice if there was a Row 13? I was on the new EI A320 last week and the exit rows where 12, and 14. It looks like aer lingus have dropped Row 13 at least one of the new craft (sorry but the reg and st. name escape me)

Ah - I didn't but that would explain it alright - so when did EI start getting supersticious :)

Unless perhaps it has something to do with their 2 latest A320's which have a slightly different internal layout and 171 instead of 174 seats apparently.

yea - on my flight last week there was no D-E-F on the first row as the front galley seemed bigger. Great aircraft :) like the new seats esp. the way the pocket of the seat in front is at eye level and open at the bottom - should help get rid of lumps of gum that lurk down there!

Correct above. EI recently took delivery of two 2 A320. They were originally destined for Iberia but I believe they cancelled the order and EI bought the lease from RBS Leasing. They are EI-EDP Ailbhe and EI-EDS Malachy.

They were converted to all economy by EI but still have some differences due to they original destination. The forward galley is larger so no 1DEF. And in a superstitious move they have no row 13. So row 1-30 exist. They also have seat pockets higher up behind the tray table.

No idea how long they will be in the fleet. Getting them and another in due next Friday helps EI operate 4 aircraft in the LGW base. 1 from next monday,a second from April 20 and 2 more from June.

Please note that these aircraft will not be actually based in LGW.They will rotate through each base just like all other EI aircraft.

Just another quick question. (Sorry to hijack)

I'm flying Malaga to Dublin next week and a few days after booking my ticket EI sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to upgrade my seat for €70 to one that reclines more and has more leg room, a "premium seat" they called it. The pic accomponying the e-mail was of an A330.

Just curious if this means an A330 will be serving the route or just a regular A320 with a business class.

Either way im wont be paying for the extra inches but was just curious.
    :D

Yeah if your on the morning Malaga flights, 0730 ex DUB, or 1250 ex Malaga, for the summer timetable the flights are by A330-300.
Basically your paying to sit in the Premier seats but get the normal economy service. The new biz class seats on their upgraded aircraft do look swish.

Thanks Bramble - was curious as to the background - as there where a few other little things different to another newer EI A320 I had been on I really need to find a better way to pass the time on my weekly Aer Lingus commute :(

Well just got off the plane EI-DEC and the configuration on the plane is still 1 - 29 - only half full so no arguments about seats - I wonder if anybody who checked in on line actually booked a seat in row 30 .. and then wondered where it was :)

Well considering that some people get on with seat 3A and wonder where it is I would not be surprised. BTW the people ask 'where 3 is' not 'where is A'
