UK Degree by Distance

Hi, I have been doing an online degree fom the Uni of Portsmouth and think it's a reasonably good deal, cheaper than Open Uni and any Irish distance degrees I could find. It's a Bsc (Hons) Crime & Criminology - with the option of leaving early with a certificate, diploma or ordinary degree. The course is 4.5 years. They also have a residential school you can go to once or twice a year if you want to, it's optional and free as far as I know, I never went. The degree course costs about £700 a year. I couldn't find cheaper anywhere, and boy did I look! Plus it's from a recognised uni and doesn't say distance on your final degree. Anyway, just wanted to share that info just incase anyone was, as I was before, looking for a decent degree by distance at a good price!

    Heres the link to them:

    :)

Oh yeah, you don't have to have done a foundation degree to get onto this course...

    Thanks for the link.
I had thought that the 60 point OU courses were also around the £700 sterling mark so would be equivalent in price, but it might be that you'd need 360 points in total to get a degree?

No probs, the Open University fees for the UK are ok priced but still more expensive compared to Uni of Portsmouth but it's when you click on their link for fees for Ireland that the price skyrockets! An example is: a 30 points module on an undergrad degree with OU for UK residents is under £350 but the very same 30 points module for Irish residenst is £755! It is crazy.

Uni of Portsmouth (the ICJS faculty - Institue of Criminal Justice Studies) is £700 (2008/09 fee) per academic year and you complete the course in 4.5 years. It is without doubt the best undergrad degree course available for Irish people wanting a degree by distance from a fully accredited uni. In fact even if you were a UK resident it is still the best priced distance degree you can get.

Anyway, I'm happy that I found that course! I was looking for a good course at a good price and that's exactly what I got...

Sweet! Was looking for a course last year with the title - Security & Risk Management.

They do a Bsc in it!

I'm 90% sure that this is the one for me.

    Cheers OP
