I'd import a 2005 Audi A3 2.0 Tdi from the UK. Black, S-Line, put 18" new RS4 wheels on her, Bose sound, leather interior. Plus it would have to be the 3-door version.

I'll get some links tomorrow maybe, heading to bed now. :pac:

Personally, I would buy something for 2-5, like a nice older Toyota, and save the rest ;)

AFAIK, on the Anni's, they did. You're thinking of a GT TDI, of which there is no such thing.

Maybe your right, still seems wrong to put a GTI badge on a TDI. Oh btw i own a GT TDI :pac:

No badge - just quicker to say GT TDI, than TDI with GTI interior :D - On badges, Id apply the same principle to a TDI with a GTI badge on the back

You'd want to be mental to pay €12k for a MkIV Golf GTi petrol, diesel or anniversary imho.

Aye, it was just the first one I came across and couldn't be arsed looking for more. I think 9-10k for an Anni is somewhat reasonable... There's an Irish 03 R32 on another forum for around 13k.

I think what he means is that the GT TDI was never a model from VW, it was a sales gimmick by garages in the UK mainly. They get a TDI (130/150) which has a gti interior and add the GT to the boot of the car.

Now a GTD, does seem to be something that will exists ->http://www.octane.ie/news/article.php?id=525&category=&page=1

Just three cars which I would consider. I would find it difficult enough to make a decision and diesel would also have to be considered as I do a fair bit of driving. My choice would be narrowed down by that fact that all FWD cars would be excluded, it would have to be RWD or AWD.

I don't know about that. Those '00 to '04 (or '05 not sure) had a lot of electrical problems. Some of which were never corrected properly due to outsoursing electronics to India.
Only reciently enough did Mercedes call back their electronics to be made in-house, to improve the reliability index.
That car could end up breaking your heart - and wallet.

Absolutely, as with all of these big cars, set aside a few thousand for repairs over the next few years, factor it into the cost. If you don't have to spend anything, you got yourself a cracking car. If you do, you factored it into the cost and are still getting an absolute bargain.

Indeed. For many years, looms were made by Kromberg & Schubert, in Waterford. Then K & S relocated production......to S. Africa iirc, but possibly to India too. You get what you pay for. Literally.

    Sorry, wrong again.

Brand new, and not bought from an Irish or UK dealer - was bought brand new, in Netherlands, in 02, ordered as RHD, imported here directly, new. Gold in colour, 130bhp, VW badged in factory as GT Tdi. (usualy red letters apply.........)

Will stop it on the road next time I see it, and get pics for ye.......:)

Reason for importing from NL? VW insisted in couldn't be got, no such thing. Ah well, his loss ! Kinda like the ML Business that 'couldn't be got' in 06, too........

I'm just going to quote on of Tossy's posts, as I only know from what I read so much about, that there wasn't a GT TDI. Then again, I could be wrong.

As for the godforesaken GT badge nonsense im not gonig to address that as im blue in the face talking about that crap! buy a well looked after highline TDI golf and buy a GT badge of ebay and hey presto you have the perfect car a TDI golf with a GT badge attached which must be good for at least 40 bhp!!!

I say do this because thats exactly what UK dealers did to invent the MK GT TDI golf, there must be a shed load of spare 'I' badges floating around in the UK as the 'GT's the used came from GTI badges!!
