Anyone know any site where I can get info to comedy competitions in the UK. Obviously there's SYTYF, but I'm looking for something a bit smaller. Maybe a club that runs a monthly comp or something like that. I tried Chortle but couldn't find anything relevant.

comedy store in london and manchester do whats known as the king gong once a month, turn up and perform, if you can last for more than 5 minutes without being gonged you get to perform on one of the comedy stores main nights...and from there, who knows! :D

obviously if you win king gong you will be noticed more but you dont have to win to get a spot, just last more than 5 minutes!

Cool, thanks for that. You know what the standard is like - how easy/difficult is it to last 5 minutes?

it can vary from night to night, some nights its full of cringeworthy horribleness where as other days its quite decent (says the guy who has never been so this is third hand information :p) its kinda like the bota, it just depends on the night in question!

If you're in London mid-week you could do the Comedy Olympics at The Queen's Head, Denman St. if you're looking for a small, fun gig.
