i've a few presentations coming up and i'd like to record some tutorials of software that i've created. a live demo of my software may not be possible so i'd like to have a video of it in case the above live demo goes awry.

anyone have any recommendations, i'm also running linux as well so if there's one for that then i can use that.

ohh forgot to mention preferably free if possible :P

Never used it myself but there is this for Mac:

There is a Pro version so I'm guessing the Free version is probably limited in some way.

Screen Mimic or ScreenFlow are excellent tools for this type of thing

    SNAPZ Pro
    excellent

used it many times for student tutorials

comes out with a hefty file size though so you may need to compress if you are putting it on cd, probably better with dvd

I've used Camtasia Studio for creating training tutorials for a new online product and found it really easy to use and had great results. There's a 14 day free trial which doesn't have any limitations. I'd never done anything like this before and it's a doddle to use with great editing features. Highly recommended.

It's available on both windows and mac - I've only used the windows version.

If you are running SnowLeopard then Quicktime has screen recording built in.

Doh...didn't see the date of the OP's post!

I think Screenflow is one of the best out there for mac. Its simple to use, easy to edit and has tons of features I'd use rather than been bloated with crap.
