Any thought as to which is best - Blackrock Dublin area?

Bloody NTL reception is gone - reprogramming for 3rd time - looks like i need to call an engineer - not a prospect i am looking forward to

Is sky any better - seems little price difference if you avoid sky sport packages etc

No contest.. Sky wins hands down for TV...

    - reliable boxes and much better EPG
    - More channels
    - HD (if you want it)

Plus they usually have decent offers for new subscribers. Have a look here too

UPC broadband is excellent, pity I can't get their phone service.

Have UPC getting Sky, couple of cons though.

Sky can't record UTV, BBC 3+4 and you don't have Setanta Sports.

    Otherwise SKY hands down

I switched from NTL to Sky FOR T.V.and kept the NTL broadband.
Sky is a far better television service.

I think Sky is the best of the of all the bad deals. I was with Chorus years ago and I still don't hate Sky as much as I hated them.

You can get Setanta Sports on SKY. It's Setanta's biggest platform!

Sorry I meant to say that you can't get Setanta Ireland for free on SKY, you have to pay €18 I think to get a bunch of useless channels with only about 5 good ones.

+1 for UPC broadband, keeping them but ditchin the TV for SKY

Can you keep their Broadband and get rid of their Television?

You pay an additional €6 a month to get their broadband and phone without a t.v. package. It's one of the reasons I've been waiting so long to get their broadband as previously you had to take a t.v. package but I already had Sky. Should be getting it installed tomorrow sometime.

Why can't you get their phone if you have their broadband, I thought they used the same box and cable connection ?

That's what I thought, I am going to have to ring them again.

    Sky +1

We've got UPC/NTL in our apartment for the last two and a half years (no option).

Had to replace the box a few times, EPG never really works and picture quality is muck.

Was in a neighbours yesterday. They have NTL digital package and the quality looked pretty bad - Is this normal?

Some channels are more heavily compressed and artefacted than others. But compared to the quality of sky in my folks place it's embarrassingly bad.

We're in Blackrock as well and have been having ridiculous problems the last couple of months too, and it's just impossible to get past that STUPID BLOODY ROBOT when you ring them, and even harder to get a technician out.

So I rang them today and got the service disconnected for good, Sky here we come woohoo! :D

    Thanks Guys for your responses
Have now moved to sky and got a whole lot of extras for free - special promo

It actually works out €2.00 chreaper per month

One thing I noticed is that the reception/screen quality is far better than NTL
