    Hi,
Would you know if adult cautions are recorded on the pulse system? I received one more then a year ago for being drunk and disorderly in a piblic place.

    Hi

I also want to go onto study social care but I have an offence on my record. It is a public order( Intoxication in a public place, Threatning abusive Behaviour) It resulted in a non conviction probation act.
Will this affect my future chances of working in the area of social care. It has been over six years now. I would appreciate any info on the issue.

    Hi Ritchiewhe

Your question in relation to the Garda Vetting, to date I have had a number of issues with my vetting. The main reason I have encountered problems was because I put on application forms I had no convictions, this is technically true but it obviously means all records of arrests. I have contacted numerous colleges and organisations about my concern and the feedback has been very different. Some organisations dont see this minor offence as an issue yet from my own personal experience some do. I want to go on and work in the disability sector, so I began volunteering about two years ago. I aslo completed a number of vocational courses in the last two years relating to disability and special needs. My conclusion on your question is that the disclousre on your Garda Vetting may cause problems but the most important thing is to be completely honest with all your applications and put a cover letter explaining why you have this on your record and it was just a once off stupid mistake. Also, what area of social care do you want to enter? have you any voluntary experience?
Feel free to get in contact as I have explored all options and continue to do so, surrounding this topic over the last few years.

    All the best
