Unless the Mondeo is the Titanium spec I wouldn't be going near it. I just think they are so horribly underspecced for the money.

so are you saying that those 3 cars diesel engines all have CO2 emissions les than 141g/km?

I thought the new Mondeo 1.8TDCi was about 151g/km

Is it just me or does anyone else think that if spending a large sum like €30k on a car I would not limit myself to those that only fall into the low €160 tax bracket?

Surely spending a little less on the car and allowing a little more for motor tax would open up alot more choice?

You should be able to import a BMW 1 Series 118d SE (lowest tax band), Accord 2.2 I-CTDI more than basic spec (€290 annual tax) for that money.

The Subaru Legacy Boxer diesel would definately be worth a look. Probably falls in between your top two price brackets.

Makes sense to someone who does the sums, like you or me. Many people here though seem to have an idee fixe about motor tax. They'd rather take an extra €3000 depreciation hit than an extra €500 motor tax hit per year. To me hits are hits and the former hurts 6 times worse than the latter.
