    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1172570/

Why is nobody talking about this:confused:

Went to see it last night and its a definite early contender for film of the year for me.

Tom Hardy's performance is nothing short of unbelievable and I cant see it being topped this year.....One of the performances of the decade imo he really is great in it.

Its very reminiscent of stuff like Chopper and A Clockwork Orange (its pretty Kubrickian in general tbh) and its absolutely beautiful to look at.

I was a big fan of the Pusher films Nick Refn did before this but with Bronson he has took things to a whole new level. Very interesting filmmaker and Ill be following what he does next very closely.

Anyway go see it. It really is great:D

I thought it was good but not great. If it wasn't for Tom Hardys performance (which is absolutely sensational) it wouldn't have worked nearly as well. The movie lacked a plot, instead, it just seemed to pick certain events in Bronsons life and join them together with strange monologues, which I found a bit jarring. The whole film felt like more of an art piece than an actual biopic. Dont go into it expecting a run of the mill movie and you will really enjoy it. Definitely worth a watch, as it is very well shot, quite original (although there are definitely shades of Chopper and Clockwork in there) and often very funny, thanks to Tom Hardys amazing performance. He is definitely one to watch.

Yeah that is a good point.

If you go in expecting a run of the mill biopic you will definitely be disappointed.

Apparently the director was'nt really interested in the life of Michael Peterson (Bronsons real name)...but he was fascinated about this alternate persona of Charlie Bronson that he created and it was an exploration of that and how Peterson would like to see himself.

Wasn't anything like i expected but enjoyed it none the less. Tom Hardys performance was brilliant it has to be said and the film did remind me of clockwork orange (which i love)

Tom Hardy is a fantastic actor. I really enjoyed Bronson but like others have said it was Tom Hardy who made the movie. Has anybody seen the BBC movie Stuart: A life backwards? It was the first time I saw Tom Hardy in anything and his performance was outstanding in that too.

Came out early to mid march and lasted about 2 weeks in cineworld before being pulled from the schedule. Chances are it's run its course in most cinemas

    Gash.

Cheers for the info. DVD I guess

Just got this today on DVD and I have to say I really enjoyed it, even though it was mostly down to Tom Hardy's performance. He was brilliant as your man, really convincing at being an egomaniacal psychopath, but denying it at the same time.

watched it last week and it really is tom hardys performance that makes the film.

Hope the bump is okay. ;)

I just watched this and deard god, Tom Hardy's performance is awesome. It will be something that will inevitably be compared to Chopper, but I think Hardy bests Bana here. Eric Bana's performance as Chopper was brilliant, but I've never felt genuinely unsettled by his portrayal, it was more along the lines of comic genius.

Tom Hardy as Bronson on the other hand is absolutely compelling, a genuinely intimidating and disturbing performance. I can't praise him enough.

Nothing like a 17 month old bump - just watched this again and Tom Hardy's performance really cannot be over-heralded. I'd almost go as far as to say it's the best performance I've seen in any movie, ever. Have a feeling that after TDKR hits the cinemas and he is finally cemented as a superstar, people will go back through Hardy's catalogue and only then will this performance get the attention it deserves.

Funny to see this thread bumped as I only recently re-watched this and I have to say, I enjoyed it much more the second time round. The film is gorgeous to look at. Really beautifully shot and the performance by Tom Hardy is crazy good. A great film.

Exceptional film. This was the first movie that made me sit up and realise what Tom Hardy had to offer as an actor. The score & soundtrack is also pretty inspired - you'll never forget the "It's a Sin" scene. It remains for me one of the most under appreciated movies of recent years. Nothing short of a colossus of a performance from Hardy.

Hardy is outstanding in it but overall I thought the movie itself was average.

Re the Chopper comparison,Ive not seen any interview footage with Bronson himself so dont have a point of comparison however Ive seen alot of Mark Read and read alot of his stuff and Bana nails his portrayal absolutely bang on,it is scary how alike the movie Chopper and real life Chopper are.

such a great scene, the soundtrack is fantastic throughout

I love the monologues to the audience segments, especially the "prison was....BRILLIANT! I liked it personally, nah fcuk that, I loved it!" one.

    edit: this one :D

Saw this on Film 4 last week, and can honestly say it was one of the few times I have been blown away by an actors performance  Tom Hardy is sublime in this.. Roll on TDKR as I think it will finally turn Hardy into a superstar... As for the film, I don't feel as much love for it as some of you folks on here. Altho I did love his interactions with the audience. Dude is batsh!t crazy, and you can't help feel a little sorry for him :p
