Does anything happen on the computer screen? Is it picked up at all?
What's the model name? Do you have the manual?

Pls don't make me have to decipher your txtspk again.

see my advice re post below ,HELP hardrive, you need to open drive case ,remove hd ,install it in pc or else buy a usb 2 ide,or usb 2 sata cable,ie is hd sata type or ide ,sata interface at rear hd is 2inch approx, ide slot is much bigger, google sata , ide interface picture.
on ebay usb 2 ide/sata cable is 1euro, or 30euros in maplins.PERHAPS there is some1 on boards that offers pc repair service,if your pc mobo has sata onboard connector then theres no need to buy a cable,if your hd is A SATA type drive.post here what model drive you have,eg iomega model 220f.switch off pc ,use the sata data ,and sata power to connect pc,data goes to pc mobo sata slot, the small 4mm cable is for sata power .

ok i took it apart and tried it on my pc and the pc wouldnt power on the light just started flickering. Is this just a way to recover my stuff of the harddrive and be able to use it on the pc?, is the external harddrive itself no good anymore?

is drive sata or ide, if sata you need to reboot, press del ,go2 bios, set boot order priority the faulty hd,is drive 2,or 3 ,slave mode.
if ide you may need to change the jumper to slave mode ,or else just have it the SOLE HD on ide cable 2 ,ie disconnect dvd, cdrom, plug in ide cable to the dodgey hd.
ide cable 1 goes to drive c windows pc boot drive,
WHAT cable are you using?is hd sata or ide,if ide set it as 1st hd,on 2nd ide cable,
ie its the secondary hd master drive, non boot able hd ,bios boot priority 2,or 3.
WHAT is the model no eg sony model hd tx520, a serial no is of no use in regard to fixing it .what pc are you using a pentium 4 or a newish dual core?
if ide set it ,just plug it in to 2nd ide cable, remove cable from dvd 4the moment.
it needs to be on a cable by ITSELF ,IE KEEP IT SIMPLE ,2hds,2 cables.if you want to get the data back.

Either the hd has a physical fault ,or else theres a conflict pc wont boot it IF sees to boot hds ,how exactly are you connecting it ?is it sata or ide,
IT MUST GO ON A CABLE BY IT SELF,CABLE 2.

is there a jumper on it ,set it to master, 2nd cable, ide secondary master,go to bios, press del, advanced options,SWITCH off fast boot ,set to normal boot, see can you see it on bios loading screen, should show up as ide 2 hd,32ogig, order usb to ide cable,ebay,3euro.
Download ACTIVE bootdisk, demo from ntfs.com,make a boot cd, boot from,cd, this,ll see any fat32 or ntfs thats detected by the pc bios.
could you borrow a usb to ide cable from boards, how old is pc,
go to bios, set TO AUTODETECT ALL HARDRIVES OR IDE DEVICES.SOME BIOS S CANNOT SEE HD OVER 150GIG,WHAT os are you running,xp or vista?

Is the drive making any sort of clicking noises? I had this problem before, I just set the drive to cable select and put it on the slave slot on an ide cable. Came up straight away..

set drive jumper to cs cable select, put on end of ide 2 by itself, if that doesnt work, buy usb or borrow usb to ide cable,or usb ide enclosure, ebay 3 euro, peats 30euro.set bios to autodetect ALL DRIVES.
what brand is the drive unit,eg iomega 500,,,,you might be able to get similar unit on boards.or buy ide enclosure on adverts.ie computer hardware 4 sale.Does hd show up in bios,or in loading screen be4 windows loads.
