    Hi,

I'm learning to drive at the minute and i've noticed as you come out of Clondalklin (at the red cow) there is a speed limit sign for 30k with a black boarder rather than a red one. Does anyone know aht this means, i've checked the rules of the road and i can't see anything in it about this?

Sorry if this was raised somewhere else i can't find it on the search, and before people start to point it out i'm well aware of how stupid a query this is!!!!!!!

    Thanks

Anywhere near the Luas tracks ? As far as I know a speedlimit sign for road traffic needs red borders.

Its probably a temporary speed limit for road works.

The luas signs have black rings around them anyway.

Sounds like it might be a Luas Speedlimit, for the Luas itself.

ive seen one of these signs also but goin through a small village outside carlow so cant be luas down there:D i thought it was kinda a combined speed and black spot warning sign as it is a sharp bend and has been several accidents there???

Not really, there on the slips raods on to the m50 and the n7 (there's actually a few but i only noticed the others toady) at the end of monestary road.

If you approach from the juction from newlands the limit is 60, the only thing i can think is that it's a minimum speed but to be honest it seems a bit dangerous. Although i do take the point about it being temporary but i didn't see them before when the 'bigger' parts of the works soi it seems a bit odd them starting it now!

Oh and it's the opposite side to the luas so i don't think that's what it is but i'll stand corrected!! And are the luas speed limits not in diamond shaps?
