Hi guys. Ive been renting a place for the last 18 months or so and the lease will end in september. However, we want to leave sooner than that. Ive seen on the prtb that if you give notice of 6 weeks you can leave. Just wondering are there any other conditions, is it as simple as this and could we be caught by something we signed in the lease?

    Any other info apprecated also.

    Cheers

What does the lease say? Is there a break clause? In some cases leases over-ride the PRTB rules.

If you have a formal fixed lease that last until September then you have to stay unless there is a break clause in the lease. PRBT notice periods only count if you have no formal lease, ie if you had a year lease and then just kept paying month after month after it expired.

If the landlord refused to allow you to sublet then I think you can get out of it.
