New Alloys - a few questions

Have a 00 focus, and it went in for a service yesterday and it turns out all 4 alloys are buckled
Oops.
So I'm going to get new ones. The current ones are 16", but I'm looking at 17".
The question I have is will this change anything in the driving of the car? Will cornoring be harder etc?
Will I have to get much lower profile tyres? Current profile is 50, would maybe 45/40 be ok? Would prefer to stay as close to 50 as possible.

Added a before shot, the alloys are 16" and profile of tyres is 50. Thanks.
EDIT: The wheels I'm getting are also going to be 5 spoke I'm thinking. Will these look stupid on the back, as there are no disc brakes?
