Excel quit unexpectedly

I was working away in excel & had save the file I was working on when a few minutes later excel crashed & I got a message saying it had quit unexpectedly & i have the option to report to apple or ignore. Now all microsoft office apps show this error when I try to open them.

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm on OS X 10.5.6 & was using Microsoft Office X.

When I clicked to send report to apple the following came up (not sure if its of any use):

well the first thing i would do, if you wish to continue using Office, is invest in the most recent version.

You're running an Intel Mac and running quite an old version of Office..... it's almost 8 years old at this stage, and it doesn't look like you've applied any updates to it at all.....as it's a PowerPC application it's being translated on-the-fly by the OS. This is probably causing problems somewhere following your error.

Sorry for the delay in replying... was having internet issues!!!

When I create a new user account excel etc works fine... which leads me to believe something is corrupted in my account! Any ideas what & where???

Solved it - had to delete Microsoft User Data folder! All is working again
