non ghd hair straighteners

my ghd broke and i dont want to fork out about 200 for a new one.looking in argos they sell straighteners that look very similar to ghds from 6 euro. has anyone experience of the chepaer straighteners and what would you recommend/stay away from? thanks

OP, if you do a search you should pull up plenty of threads about other hair straighteners.

I use a Remington one I got in Boots for €40 and it's as good as a ghd. Other people also recommend a Babyliss one (not sure what it's called).

I can't imagine the €6 Argos one would be any good.

If you're looking at other ones, ceramic ones are better, and look at what temperature they heat up to, at least 200 degrees+ is preferable.

I have either a Remington or a Vidal Sassoon one (can't remember which) that I got a year ago in Boots. It cost about 40-50 quid and it's absolutely brilliant.

Got a babylis one last year for around 40 quid, got different temp settings and works a treat!

I have a toni and guy one that was on sale months ago in Tesco for €6..It's great ! I've been using it for about six months and my hair is perfect.. never ruined my hair! Why don't you bring your straighters over to your local electrical shop they will prob fix it for about €10! I got my GHD fixed eventually and I think the other straightener actually is better for my hair because it has an adjustable temperature dial.

stupidly i stood on my ghd so i think its beyond repair thanks for the tips guys, i'll look for an adjustable temp one. Has anyone found a good heat resistant product? Nearly everything i've used has made my hair greasy

Made my hair really shiny and no frizz even in rain :eek:although, like most hair products, it doesn't work on me anymore:rolleyes: but for a couple of months I was walking around amazed

and he fixed them for me perfectly, got them back within ten days or less! did that in september and they're still working great for me..

Another vote for Remington - I had them before I got my GHD and thought they were fab. The only difference between Remington and GHD is that Remington used to straighten my hair but if I didn't use it, my hair would be fuzzy wuzzy. Once I started using the GHD, it straightened my hair and knocked the fuzzy wuzzy out of it! lol

My friend had a vibrating hair straightener and swears by it..dont know what make it is but i do know its red!!!

six euro? are you serious? i would never buy hair straighteners for six quid like.

personally i'd say you might as well spend 200 quid on a decent good pair that will last you years, than plenty of cheap ones. (6 quid?!? ridiculous..)

plus no other straightener makes your hair that nice like.
