Vauxhall VX220 - Can it be got?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if this car is available in the south for purchase second hand and how much would you be expecting to pay for a 03/04 model? Anyone recommend some places to check apart from the usual cbg.ie and autotrader?

You would be much better off going to the UK. Not that many sold here so second hand selection will be poor as can be seen on carzone etc. You will find a much better selection on pistonheads etc.

Also the VX220 turbo is the one to go for. It is obviously much faster but is better equipped inside also, more sound proofing etc so will be a better car to live with.

Buy one from england, i'll be a lot cheaper than here. Buy the turbo too for supercar beating pace.

I drove this one about 3 weeks ago. Great fun to drive, but I'm 5'8 and had trouble getting in and out. Once you're wedged into the seat, it's a no-compromise drivers car. There's a lot of noise, and you do feel a bit vunerable.

Oversteer doesn't seem to happen either, the back begins to break loose, but then because the front has no weight over it and scrabbles for grip, the car just ends up understeering. Disappointing for that reason.

Had a (very) quick spin in one years ago when they were lauched and found it very difficult to get out of and I'm 5'8" as well. The back end breaks loose very easy but thats what made it so fun

I found the opposite. I found it hard to get the back to do anything.

I think England is the pace to go. Way bigger choice of cars there and much cheaper with exchange rate. Insurance is surprisingly low on them as well. I got quoted €1200 and im a 23yo male with 1 year full licence. Not sure what the excess was though but for a car that fast that is still really cheap.
