what does everyone think, what chance have the lions v the springboks.

Personally id say South Africa will win the series 2-1, i think they will just have too much power and pace especially when they are up against a squad thats been thrown together with about 6 weeks to prepare.

On the issue of captain, its either between O'Driscoll and O'Connell.

My money is on big Paulie at 5-4 that i got from Coral.

Ian McGeechan has a preference for big forwards and O'Connells massive presence on the field, not just in physical size but in the way he really does become a beast and a leader of men.

Plus O'driscoll as captain carries alot of baggage from 2005 in new zealand and id say they reckon brian would play alot better if he didnt have the added pressure of being captain...

what a great year for irish rugby eh ?.. wouldnt it be amazing if we could round it off with another Heineken cup and a lions tour win ..

    finally we are champions !!

I don't think 2005 will have much bearing on O'Driscall as captain, considering he only played a few mins of the first test (wasn't it the first test he got speared in?), but I think O'Connell is porbably slightly more likely to get it. As for the series, I really think the Lions are up against it and a 201 defeat is the best the Lions will do, with a whitewash being more likely. I hope I'm wrong on that score though.

I think if McGeechan doesn't play too many English players we could win the series 2 1. I think it is their best chance of a series victory in years

    lions to win series 2-1
