Has anyone in Shanowen Square (or any accomadation for that matter) recieved a summons for a TV licence recenlty or in the past?

I just recieved one for my last years apartment in Shanowen Square, I did not own a TV and am not aware of a TV in the apartment. (Althought it is a possibilty that one of the other people living there had one).

I remember a man from an Post arriving last year, I answered the door and he asked for my name about a TV licence, he did not enter the apartment, or see any TV, and I explained that I would be moving out the following week as it was near the end of the year, he said that was fine and he just needed a name so I gave mine.

This year I am living in a different apartment which does have a TV licence. Does anyone know what might happen in a case like this if it went to court?

Just give them a ring! You didn't have a TV licence in your last place simple as that, how did they find you btw if you have a different address?

I'm in Shanowen again this year but in a different apartment, it was registered post so it must have been signed by reception because the old apartment number is crossed out and new one written in.

yeah just phone them up and inform them that you don't have a TV this year, that you don't live there anymore and didn't possess a TV when you did live there.

Just ignore it, you dont live there anymore and they dont have any proof that you had a TV when you did.

    I wouldn't recommend that.

I called them on Friday and the woman I spoke to advised me to send an e-mail to them which I have done, hopefully it will be sorted out, really can't afford to pay it.

It's a summons, not a warning letter. Best to ignore it.
