Someone help me out here. What's the difference between a jackpot and a scoop 6?

Also, can I do these with a regualar bookie or do I need to do it with the Tote.

    Thanks!

The Tote Jackpot takes place each day (Mon -Fri) at a selected meeting. You have to pick the 6 winners of the 1st 6 races on the card to win the Jackpot.

The Scoop6 takes place on Saturdays and is again made up of 6 races. These races are usually spread across a couple of meetings and are always on the televised races i.e. on CH4 or BBC. You must pick the 6 winners to win the Scoop6 win fund (and then you get a chance to win a bonus on one selected race the following Saturday). The Scoop6 is a double bet (costing £2) with half ur stake put into the win fund (i.e. pick 6 winners) and the other half put into the placefund (i.e. if ur 6 horses are placed you get a place dividend, like a placepot.

You can now do the Tote Jackpot with Ladbrokes in Ireland who are Tote direct i.e. your bet goes towards the totepool and if u win you are paid from the tote (no limit). You can also do the jackpot in other bookies but if they are not tote direct then u will be subject to the bookies limits, which is very important cos the jackpot can sometimes be huge.

You can do the Scoop6 and Tote Jackpot on Betfair or if u open an account with Totesport. Again both these are tote direct.

Cool. Just a few questions. I'm guessing the Scoop6 and the Jackpot are two different funds. ie. They can both roll over etc. but are in no way related? The size of them are in no way related?

Also what do you mean about getting a chance to win a bonus on a selected race the following Saturday? Could you give an example?

What he means is that in the event of you winning the jackpot on a Saturday you also have a chance to win a bonus by selccting the winner of the main handicap race on the next Sat.
The Jackpot and indeed the placepot can be done in all Irish bookies shops, you will see the special dockets, for both Irish and British racing. British racing is always the first 6 races but Irish is usually 4 races, (races 3,4,5 and 6)
The Scoop 6 cannot be done in Irish shops as far as I know. Well Ladbrokes don't do it anyway.

You can do the Irish Jackpot/UK Jackpot with the Irish Tote's website www.thetote.com. Scoop6 is available there on a Saturday too, save you walking to the bookies! I think they publish the pools and any rollovers on their website in advance in case you miss a big rollover!
