Gonna buy a car soon, my first car, I'm still a provisional driver, im 19. What are my best options? Im on my mothers car at the moment, its a 2003 1.8 Avensis and were paying a little over 1100 a year for it. Was lookin to get a 1.3 Mitsi Lancer for about €1000. My mothers said that she'll do the insurance and me as a named driver but ive been getting quotes online, for only third party f+t for like €1200.. how could it possibly be so expensive on hibernian when im getting cheaper for a much more valuble, newer and bigger engine car?

Was checking out Ryanairs No Nonsense insurance, it seems really cheap but doesn't seem to like named drivers under 21. Can anyone confirm this?

Basically I'm just lookin for peoples 2 cents here. Point me in the right direction Please :)

    Cheers

    Classy bird. Sorry had to.
A lot of places dont like insuring people under 21 sadly. Apply for your test as soon as you can.

Right I'm with AXA since I started driving many moons ago. They can't really be beaten on value or service...but that's only if you know how to ask them nicely.
Theres an insurance company in Donegal called Britton insurance that give very good quotes. So I went on to their website & got a cheaper quote from them than anyone else I went to.
Went back to AXA & told them the quote I got & they matched it as best they could, which was fairly good.
I don't know anyone who has insurance with Britton but it's worth checking them out & it will at least give you a figure to bargain with.

You would still start out on a zero no claims bonus as your mothers NCB is tied up on the avensis & cannot be transferred unless the avensis is cancelled.
try get a quote for insurance in your own name, your mothers insurance company should offer you a quote as your with them as a named driver.
