    Just got a New PC, but it has no cables that came with it so got to buy some.

    For connecting the DVI from the GFX card to an LCD monitor or Plasma screen, would it generally be a DVI-D [dual] cable that would work?

    I'm in town til the weekend, and me PC's at home so I can't check it proper >_<;

    Depnds on laods of things. If the PC has DVI out then your are going to need a DVI cable/adapter of some description. It could have HDMI and or VGA as well soy you should check exactly what it has.

    Same goes for the monitor/LCD/Plasma. LCD and Plasma TV's generally have HDMI and VGA conections but no DVI. You can get DVI to VAG adapters and DVI to HDMI adapters. Monitors tend to have VGA and DVI (some have HDMI).

    So you need to figure out that you have at both ends to get the correct cables and adapters.

    The "-D" in DVI-D actually means digital, in that it is compatable [at least partially] with HDMI.
    Alternatively, there is DVI-A [Yup, Analog] which is compatable [at lease partially] with VGA.

    You gotta check which one is on your GFX card.

    Generally speaking, Plasmas and LCD's have HDMI and some or all of the likes of DVI / VGA / SVideo / Other connectors on them. However, you will NOT get sound through the DVI cable so you will need to hook up your sound card output to the screen too.
