Hi folks, ever since weve had dry weather im hearing a sound thats best described as a squeaking or creaking noise coming from the front suspension of my 06 vw passat 2.0 tdi 34k miles on the clock.
It sounds like something needs lubricating?
Its only on bumps like speed ramps or sudden dips on the road.
    Any ideas ?

I have a 06 Leon and it does the exact same. A lot of Golfs and Octavia's seem to do it too. Has yours sports suspension? All the cars use similar suspension bits so it could just be a characteristic of VAG cars.

I had mine checked at a service and they could find nothing amiss. Had it at a Seat dealers for a subsequent service and they said that a lot of them do it (the service guy even demonstrated with his own car) and its nothing to be worried about.

Of course it could be something serious wrong so dont take my word for it jusy my experience;)

Ya its common problem - most likely the ARB bushings need changing.

Thanks guys, i rang mechanic that usually does work for me who is also the mechanic for the dealer i bought the car from so all is good as im still under dealer warranty.
Mechanic did say its more than likely bushings and its very common with VAG cars.

Im booked in for tomorrow morning to get it sorted.

Should these be replaced under preventive maintenance.? how much are they. At 34k you shouldn't have anything going wrong

Theyre cheap dont worry. Not a big job. On irish roads its not that much of a surprise. Some of the standard bushings on VAGs are pretty poor tbh. Its not serious though unless its completely destroyed.
