When's it released? The 11th of October or the 10th of November......damn yanks and their weird way of doing dates

it doesn't look like anything, it's just a teaser, it's main ploy is to just reignite interest (as if it had to) and give us a release date.

that being said, i will agree that it's a very cool teaser, i certainly got that little bump of excitement. . .ah November isn't that far, is it?????

The release date is 10th of November so it gives the consumer at least a month to purchase it for Christmas. I wonder could they have released it this summer but are waiting to maximize sales... actually, I don't want to know the answer to that because it'd probably just put me in a bad mood :(

So, approximately eight months of torture from InfinityWard to look forward to... great... by September I'll probably be sat in the corner somewhere, rocking backwards and forwards, repeating the word "November" over and over again... :p

I'm sorry, but, what exactly is exciting about that?

The fact that IW know how to make tasty looking vids with Adobe After Effects??

    Ingame footage pl0x

It's not supposed to be that exciting or informative. It's just a teaser, the idea is to get you interested and thinking about the game without them actually telling you or showing you anything. It's a pure marketing trick. They probably have nothing developed worth showing yet anyway, so they make up something kinda cool that could be vaguely linked to the game, slap the brand name on it and start creating media hype. Every gaming website has an article on it today and we're discussing it which is all part of their cunning plan. In fairness, if you weren't told that was about CoD4 MW2, you wouldn't have guessed what game it was for except for the InfinityWard logos and stuff.

Its just called Modern Warfare 2, not CoD4 MW2 like some people are confusing it with

That makes sense, otherwise it'd be a complete mouthful...

I shall bow to your knowledge and hence forth refer to it as MW2... but know that in my heart it'll always be CoD4 MW2

    IMO it's like this:

CoD1 (then came UO - CoD1 Expansion Pack)
    CoD2
CoD3 (Treyarch Title on Consoles only - thank God!)
    CoD4:MW
    CoD5:WaW (Treyarch again...)
    CoD6:MW2

Can we all agree on the above?

So it looks like Infinity Ward are dropping the call of duty series, there's no mention of call of duty anywhere on the site or the teaser which really makes no sense from a marketing perspective unless they've dropped it and decided to make Modern Warfare it's own franchise.

Major Nelson is referring to it as simply "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"...
So it seems like he's under the impression that it is definitely still under the CoD franchise.

Yep that's the word going around.

Will we need a new thread/section for Modern Warfare 2? ;)

To be honest, they should have just called it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, without the 4. So they could call this one Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, instead of losing the CoD name (which would ultimately make it sell more copies). I don't really care though, it'll always be CoD6 to me :D
