I'm looking for a game that models modern fighters. I know falcon 4 allied force is out there, and that is my fall-back plan(didnt work on my pc at release so returned it - bugs), but I dont want any more badly modelled Sukhois or mig-17's.
In short, I'm looking for a detailed, accurate simulator (not arcade) version of something in the 4th/5th generation of fighters.
    Does one exist now?

ps I had LOMAC.. great fun, but not it either.

I don't think there are any in the same niche as IL2:1946 or anything like the. Falcon AF is getting a bit long in the tooth now but it's great and the updates are on Lead Pursuit's homepage.

I didn't like LOMAC, for some reason.

I think there's one called Strike Fighters but it's pretty basic out of the box ...lots of MODS available online though.

Do you mean model as in pretty aircraft or accurate flight models and systems?

Theres really nothing like Falcon. Everything else is less detailed. By the time I had a PC able to play Falcon I didn't have the time to get into it. Though I got about halfway though a few campaigns. Lock On I just couldn't get into for some reason. Didn't grab me at all.

DID's sims, EF2o00 and F22ADF are pretty much arcade like. So I dunno why you are using them as a yard stick. F15/F18 were somewhere inbetween. But these are old Sims.

Strike fighters, pretty much a lite sim. 50's 60;s aircraft with simple systems. So if you want to spend sometime with a manual, forget it. However the combat is very good, and combat tactics work very well. You can recreate Thud Ridge, Flight of the Intruder etc. But its nothing like Falcon, and there no modern systems, so no modern fighters. Theres some good mods for it, the Falklands, YAP.

While IL2 is great it has a lot of flaws. Super accurate gunners and the Russian aircraft seem better than they should be. Things like that ruin the single player game. If you can get past that though its great.

Well I guess the best sim I've played in recent times would have to be Janes F18. I just spent most of my time doing tasty carrier landings!

What I'm looking for is a proper avionics and flight model simulator for modern fighters. An F-16A I would not regard as modern really.

It doesnt seem like one exists..
I'll try Falcon Allied force for now on my laptop.

The problem is anything that moderm is classified and you won't get enough data of the flight model or the systems to model it accurately. Doesn't sound like you are looking for a combat sim, but something for fsx.

Falcon is still far beyond this though.

Falcon 4 is the business for a highly detailed modern combat flight sim.
Falcon 4 Allied Force has been patched a lot and is very stable on most systems. Don't think you gave it a chance.

You can also have a look at the mods for F4. Red Viper and FreeFalcon 5 which totally change the sim and what it can do. It might be 10 years old but nothing offers the detail of the Viper. And it's not an 'old' F-16A either. You can have versions all the way up to Block 52 and drop JDAMs, LGB and other GPS munitions. And you can fly a load of other aircraft. And it's free....

    Free I tell ya. FREE!!!!!!!
