Well if we knew the answer Paddy Power would take a bit of a hammering.

You have all the International and Interprovincial squads which will lead the betting. Very few foreign players playing this year.

Pretty certain Shane Lowry will top the betting when the book opens, but matchplay can throw throw up some strange results.

Its hard to look too far past Shane Lowry to be honest. As you say though the Matchplay will throw up some strange results. Should be a good championship. I should get out to one day of it hopefully.

Two definite contenders are v doubtful, Paul Cutler and Dara Lernihan, both walker cup panellists have broken fingers and with nobody else showing form yet its hard to call. Expect Niall Kearney and Lowry to be there come semi finals.

Niall Kearney shot good opening round yesterday in Sotogrande - same as Lowry.

I'll go for Andrew Hogan (Newlands) to be there, or thereabouts.

It's a seeded draw asfaik so Lowry and Kearney will be protected to an extent.

All internationals are competing this weekend in a 54hole scratch cup in lee valley golf club as a warm up. this might give a good indication of who to punt on with paddy power id say.........Ive a fierce sneaky feeling about Pat Murray for the west tho.......

going to go with Kearney thinks hes over his back problem and with the south he won last year his confidence should be high enough and know for a fact hell be down that direction for 1-2 weeks practiseing before the west commences
