Saw a thing about this in today's paper.
    http://truthforyouth.com/
Seems like a well intentioned idea, warning kids of the nasty things in life such as drugs, school violence, peer pressure.... er.... evolution...... rock music? Oh well. :(

The comic on evolution is especially funny.
    Evolution = racism. :o

    I love these oxymoron statements

If an "evolutionist" taught this then they wouldn't understand evolution, and thus couldn't be an "evolutionist" :pac:

There's a pic of my car in third page of the "Peer Pressure" comic! :pac:

    Unbelievable drivel, though.

Homosexuality: you arent born that way, you are made that way by pedphiles.

Pornography: Family hugs and scripture are a valid alternative.

Safe Sex: Football players are a good source of advice on the potential failure of condoms.

Abortion: Dont consider it or your father will die on a desert island.

    Rock Music: Causes panic attacks.

    School violence: Bibles stop bullets.

Evolution: Be lazy! You dont have to earn gods love! Therefore you dont need to learn anything! Huzzah!

Peer Pressure, Drink & Drugs: Go on a crime spree. Find Jesus. He'll square it with the law for you.

    All endorsed by Pat Boone.

I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

Edit: also, I believe that this "recruitment of an army of youths" is a little creepy. Especially when it is a means to circumvent the law surrounding the presence of religion in public schools.

The evolution one is the usual b*llox. It seems scandalous that they can lie so blatantly to an audience so impressionable. But having seen some of the other creationist "science" videos on youtube, it's not overly surprising. The concept of opposing facts by misreporting the evidence and essentially "making sh1t up" seems pervasive. I guess what else are you left with when your argument is that the earth is 6000 years old and dinosaurs were on Noah's ark?!

If creationists had any evidence they'd write them up and submit them for review by the scientific community. They make cartoons.

I hope he just misplaced the "s". I think he meant "american idiots " not "Americans! Idiot!"

Anyway, I'm sure this site will be a huge success. Nothing says a site is hip and in touch with the youth of today like a page of endorsements from a bunch of crusty old men

Oh and the lead actor, Dean Jones, from that Herbie movie "The Love Bug"... kids still love cars that come alive and don't turn into transformers right?

Hey the kids love manga, hence why Jesus himself has chosen to display his message in such a manner

edit: "Condoms have a 15% fail rate"

Maybe they do for you because,

You know, I saw the Manga bible in Hodges Figgis a while back, but I assumed I'd just imagined it.

Oh cripes, the Safe Sex one is dangerously inaccurate. It should say "condoms may not always work, so you'd better go on the Pill too"

Let's face it, that big football jock is going to have his way with her whether she wants it or not.

The flash intro is awesome. I especially liked the bit where we see a copy of their book/pamphlet being passed from one person to another with a waving American flag superimposed. Classy and patriotic.

meh, she was asking for it.

I like the evolution one where the guys is telling the kid about the deceitful mind of humans.

Hating one race over another is bad. Self loathing all of humanity in equal measure if ok though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

"But 'gay' is just a political correctness 'code word' for condoning homosexuality!...I won't use those deceptive terms no matter how often the liberal media tries to reinforce them!"

Love the final message about having to admit being gay is a sin so that God can forgive you.

    Utterly toxic.

Ahaha: "When I was a homosexual 30 years ago..."

    It wasn't an apple.

Now, no doubt, someone will manage to turn that simple observation into a personal insult.

Funny was thinking about this on a flight back to Ireland over the weekend

The resurrection has been called the most important event in history and we (atheists and Christians) often debate over whether it happened or not, does it make sense, should we take the offer of salvation (do we take the offer) etc.

I was think that this focus is some what misplaced.

It is reasonable I think for an atheist to say they don't believe the resurrection happened, but this is countered by the Christian claim that there is no evidence it didn't. Which I guess is true, beyond the idea that humans can't resurrect themselves there is no reason to say it didn't happen, and this reason is nullified some what if Jesus was God, as Christians keep reminding us.

But I was thinking on the plane that all this is moot if the Fall never happened.

And there are far more reasons to suppose that never happened. Even most Christians don't seem to hold that it happened as described in the Bible at all. There are all these theories that it wasn't the first humans but the first humans with souls, or the first humans not to be animals etc.

I don't think it's quite accurate to say that many Christians 'don't seem to hold that it happened as described in the Bible'. It would be more a case of them thinking that the Bible doesn't attempt to give a historical description of Creation or of the Fall, but simply expresses them in metaphorical language.

In fact most Christians' approach to the Fall is in many ways similar to that of Creation. They may not believe that Adam was shaped out of dust, or that Eve was created from Adam's rib, but they still believe that God, in one way or another (quite possibly evolution) created the first humans. Similarly, whether they believe in a literal Garden, serpent, fruit etc, they still believe that humankind started out as basically innocent but developed a sinful nature.

Why were the gays fighting the Nazis? All very strange. I also loved the bit, "God doesnt send you to hell you choose to go there"

And remember kids a rock concert is no place for Christians!

'Love, family values, mom, apple pie, gays are wrong, we should have nuked North Vietnam, Canada is a terrorist sin haven and will collapse any day now.....'
