    Hi folks

hope you can help. I've been reading and talking about doin my own HTPC build for quiet a while and I've finally bit the bullet and bought an Antec fusion Remote case to get me started.

I have just one or two questions(for a start:)) I hope you can advise me on.

    - My Tv and Av gear is in the right hand corner of my room, what do people usually do regaring their surround sound in this case? i.e. do you still go for 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound or does it defeat the purpose if you cant put the TV in the center of the room?

    - My other question is if you have any reccommendations for a mobo or mobo bundle that will fit this case. will any Micro ATX motherboard fit this case or are there some that wouldn't suit because of placement of I/O ports or something?

I'm hoping to use this for storing all my media, watching and recording digital TV (sky), I may want to connect a record player to it. I not into gaming at the moment but I would like it to be easily upgradeable to cater for this. I want to be able to play Blu Ray stuff so I need HDMI I suppose.

Sorry for the newbie questions. I've read a lot of the threads but I'm still a little unsure about certain aspects as you can see.

    thanks for any help

    jack

Sound - does having a HTPC make any difference in your setup for sound? Have you got a sound system that takes 5.1 or 7.1? If yes, even if the TV is in the corner, it will still be centered to having speakers to the left and right of it. Some DVDs have a sound check thing which help you position your surround sound and test if everything is best placed. I think the star wars movies have it.

Mobo - pick which processor your prefer first. Then this will dictate your mobo. Go for one with integrated HDMI so you don't need a GFX card. If you want gaming you can buy a card later. Look at the Post your setup sticky thread for ideas.

You'll need a TV card for sky. Two options. 1) take svideo+audio out from sky box as input to analogue card. 2) use a cam card and dvb-s card. Have no idea how to do this, but there are threads about it. Better quality but very messy and needs a sky viewing card.
