Well lads, whats the crack. I'm heading over to Texas to live for a few months /years. I have been playing full time now nearly 5 years mostly online, with the exception of two years when i almost lived in the macau in Cork. My question here is, i know online is a problem in the states, so will i still be able to play and transfer my winnings into my current account back home in Ireland? Also does anyone know what the poker scene is like over in Texas? Il be living in a city called The Colony , its about 30 minutes from Dallas. thanks in advance
    Busted!!!:)

Gambling is illegal in Texas AFAIK

You can play on stars, full tilt etc but not on Non-US sites like ipoker

iPoker won't accept connections that originate in the states, it's not just a matter of getting caught or not.

The future might be brighter for online Poker in the states as now that Bush is out of office, there is a push to make it legal once again.

All you really need is a version of something similar to hotspot shield.

I've used hotspot myself and I had it on one day and Betfair would not let me on their site, I tried ipoker for the fun of it and it would not let me on either.

I'm sure there are plenty of them out there. I have never personally had a need for a European one so can't help you with that.

I think you should pay someone to operate a Tor Node for you. Try any small web hosting company or anyone with a decent web connection.

I live in Texas, and yes its true there are strict laws with regard to gambling in the State, but you are well positioned around Dallas to make the short trip to Oklahoma or Louisiana for plenty of good poker action in the Casinos. There are the underground casinos and card room that exist in every major city but often I read of raids on these.

There are continuous rumours for the past 3 years of them legalising gambling down here on Galveston Island which were called for again after the Hurricane last year. It you bring huge money to the Houston area as if you look in the car parks of the Louisiana Casinos its all Texas plates!

But as i said Oklahoma is a good spot for live poker, I have friends in Dallas that go regularly.

Whats bringing you to a town named The Colony anyway!! Sound like one of those Mormon polygamy groups!! :p

Cheeres for the info m8. Im heading over as a relative of mine has opened a business and asked me to come over and help him out. Im a bit sick of the poker life, so i said i would , however i know that 3/4 weeks of propper work and il be itching to get back to my wicked ways. Also the weather and the lifestyle there are about 4 million times better than here espically at the moment. So thanks again!
