I am on the bus at the moment. There is a girl talking loudly on the phone about everything from make up to the night out at some traffic light disco. Three factors here:

I have had a really bad day.
There is about 40 min to go.
    She is really annoying me.

    What do I do?

Can you not just ask her to shush up politely? if she is so loud to be annoying you then she's probably annoying other passengers. Be a man and ask her to shush down, others will thank you for it.

Sit down next to her. Answer what she says on the phone as if she is talking to you.

You could sing a really loud song or tune like the batman ne ne ne ne an BATMAN. or you could get a bit sad and sing the Eastender tune really loud. So she will end up moving or hanging up.

Or you could tell her to be quiet for at least 2mins. It's hard to get a woman to be quiet for that long I know. So thats all the advice I can give you.

There my second post, before it gets locked:D

In Berlin they have signs up to remind you that a mobile phone is not a loudspeaker and to keep it down!

I like Victor's suggestion, but if that's not available I suggest gunfire. "Dum-dum" ammunition - wasn't it designed for shooting dumdums?

Didnt get arrested lads but survived it. She hung after another 15 min and there seemed to be a collective sigh of relief. She then made another call but couldnt hear her victim. Thank God for mobile black spots.

    Anyway lesson learned.
    Be more patient.
    If its bad, ask politely.
And I'll cut back on my moaning on boards!

    The joys of public transport

I was on the bus into town from the Airport. A young girl, about 20, sitting up the front of the bus phone rings. So she answered with "Hello?" when suddenly a guy half-way down the bus shouted in reply to her "Hiya, love." People turned to their neighbour to see if they'd really heard that. The girl ignored him and asked whoever was on the phone "How are you?" to which the guy on bus shouted back "Grand, and yourself?". By this time people had started to laugh. Trying to listen to her friend on the phone the poor girl asked "Where are you?" to which she got "Down here - at the back of the bus! Can you not see me??". By this time the whole bus was in stiches and the girl hung up, telling whoever she was talking to that she would call them back.

Get up and sit next to her.
Take out a pen a paper and start writing down what she says.
Every now and then, just aks her if she could repeat what she was just saying, as you couldn't quite hear it.
When she is listening, tap her on the shoulder now and then and ask her what the other person is saying, as you hate it to just get one side of the conversation.
At the end ask for her name and the name of the person she was talking to, so you can put upt the conversation with the right names on to your web-page.

Checked sky news, they seriously have a lack of "breaking news"
Nothing in news on it. No mobile phone loud user reports. There are a nuicance and should be broadcasted throughout THE DAY

It would be breaking news to have "breaking news". in this day and age JESUS CHRIST. fumes....

ooh, people playing snake on thier phone and the incessant beeping drives me mental! As does lids 'trying' out new ring tones... Have often on Bus Eireann services asked people in a loud voice,to turn thier phone to silent when playing a game. They are mortified usually and can see everyone else agreing.. it works!

She hung up or you hung her?

Hanging are bit naft and to overbearing for someone just to be talking loudly on a phone, and before you say i know, she was probably shouting from the top of her lungs.

    This has to be investigated.

If you asked me to stop twiddling with my phone and playing snakes.

I would laugh. Then carry on playing. I'm a pretty nice guy in saying so too.

Are cellphone jammers legal in Ireland? I'd be a bit nervous about them when you consider that train communications are moving to GSM-R (IE is deploying it on DART according to a railway industry site).

On the other hand, an Israeli company developed a paint which blocks cellphone signal, which could be painted onto "quiet carriages"
