    Hi all

The HSE is too depressing so...

Does anyone have any experience with Piracetam or other nootropics that people take as 'memory enhancers'?

I know it has multiple suggested clinical uses, and may be useful in AD, stroke recovery, epilepsy etc.

However, I am more interested in it's effects in normal individuals in the absence of pathology.

I know one friend who takes it as a 'food supplement' and reckons it makes him sharper, has improved his attention span and retention. Anecdotes are not trials though! Does anyone have any experience of this or know of any trials in normal individuals? This was the first I had heard of people taking it as a supplement.

I finished a course of these on Monday and have since finished a full and detailed report detailing my experiences, any side-effects and paying particular attention to the varied results of a number of balanced, controlled and independently verified tests aimed at either proving or refuting the manufacturers claimed benefits.

    - Can't remember where I left it though :o

Heh heh, I was thinking something similar:rolleyes:

Seriously though, apart for the manufacturers own claims, has anyone read anything about the effect of these drugs in normal individuals? Side effects?

A lot of people take them (again anecdotally, college students buying them from mexico etc) for purported memory and concentration gains, have there been any proper studies?
