Hi lads and ladies, Im a complete battlestar virgin so got a lend of the first seasons boxset of a friend to see what all the fuss is about, the thing is he told me i'll be lost unless i see the pilot first. Is this true or is he talking horsesh!t?

So in your opinion should i seek out the pilot or just dive straight into it?

I'd definitely get the pilot miniseries, I really loved it, there's a different pacing and dynamic, a more film like setup than the season long arks and I think they couldn't have made a better introduction to the series. Aside from all that it recounts all the central events that sets the series in motion, it isn't the usual test screening pilot that gets half discarded and ignored when the series proper begins.

Yeah there's no point in not watching the miniseries. It's basically the first three episodes.

    Yep, watch the miniseries first.

It's the first Act in a 5 part epic.

You definately need to watch it from the start. It introduces alot of the charaters as well as the storyline.
