    Don't laugh:o
I'm an oldie but I'm new to running. I'd been loving it, doing great (by my standards), lost loads of weight and have been building up stamina and strength little by little, week by week at a meet and train group. Last weeks session took a different slant and we did some bursts of sprints. Having also done a fair but more running/ jogging than before I expected to feel it the next day. For the few days after my shins hurt like hell which hasn't happened before. Then my left thigh started hurting (if I even attempted a run). I decided rest was best for a few days. Yesterday getting up from the friggin' washing machine I put all my weight on my left leg and felt like my thigh was splitting in two :( I spent the rest of the day on the couch, nurofened and R.I.C.E'd up. Today it was ok for the most part though I could still feel it a bit. The only time I really felt it hurt today was when i stepped out of the car and up on to a step on that leg... i'm still feeling the effects of that now. I'm not in agony but it's there.. IYKWIM.

So what am I asking? I don't know:confused: What do I do? I'm not in constant pain so can I assume it's not a doctor jobby and I just carry on as normal and rest it until I feel I can "test" it again or am I likely to do more damage by not getting it seen properly. Is there anything I should/ could do to try to avoid injury to that particular area again?
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years back so it's possible my muscles react differently or overreact to some of these stresses but I really don't want to go down that slippery slope to inactivity again :( I can't even begin to explain the difference the exercise has made to my life in the past few months....

You might have just pulled a muscle. They can be very sore and the best thing to do is give it lots of rest. I did gymnastics for 16 years & had my fair share of sprains, & pulled muscles, my coach use to tell me to just go easy on it & stretch gently, but in one case that made it much worse & it took a good two months of rest for it to heal, mine was very bad though, it could have been a torn one looking back now!
So just take it easy & don't do anything that makes it sore (if thats possible!) :)

My advice is if you can afford it get some medical advice as it'll end up frustrating the hell out of you especially if you are really getting into it.

Unfortunately we can't give out medical advice here.
