was thinking its about time for new grips have same ones for 2yrs and play quite a bit, had the red/black golf pride ones, have looked after them too but definately got a better feel when i changed them last time

    wear a med/large glove

Q.1. i have larger than the average paw so was thinking i should maybe have a wrap or 2 of tape, your thoughts,or should the guys in the shop know this?..........me thinks so

Q.2 does anyone recommend anything different in grips......or is it as i suspect totally your own call?

    ta,

is it illegal to put tape on your clubs yourself?
i've been having a problem keeping my left hand grip in place on the backswing so have used some sellotape on some of my longer irons to help me maintain a proper grib?
its just basically to help me get into some good habits and i dont see it as a long term approach
do i need to disclose this at my next competition for example?

Depends what kind of sellotape it is. If you apply it straight off the roll it's ok, but if you use one of these things you have to declare it before playing...

Or he could use that invisible tape. Its white on the roll but when you put it on its intended location you can hardly see it! You'd probably get away with out declaring it in this case.

I wear a medium Large glove. I also wear a 8.5 or 9 in goalkeepers gloves. This is the norm. 9 is pretty much standard. Very Small would be a 7, Very Large would be an 11. So you don't have a "Larger than average paw" if your wearing a medium Large glove.

According to Ping, using the wrong size grip can effect your shots. You can see it mentioned in the video here: Grip Size

So perhaps you should talk to your pro about it and see what they say.

As far as the grip its self. I personally really like full cord grips. Others cannot stand them so its really a case of personal choice. One thing I would suggest looking at is the "FatSo" grip for the putter. This is not the one that is as thick as a pringle's can but its just slightly thicker than a normal grip. I changed recently on the advise of 3 other people and it has made a difference.

    Regards
    Ian

the logic here being that the spongier the tape/grip, the easier and more comfortable to hold??

    never thought about this before
    makes sense tho

    ta,

You should have a go of the Golf Pride Multi-compound grips, feels really solid

ian, following your logic but would have to say slightly bigger hands but not much, so probably get measured

gorefield, thanks may do, but just looking for some general feedback, think i know where your based, west along

gnolan as i said i have the multi-compound golf pride type for the last 2yrs and am quite happy to go there again, was just wondering if anyone had anything else they thought highly of

not interested in putter grips.......have that putting lark well sorted(breaks into a fit of laughter....if only)

as for you conno if i was near you with sellotape i'm sure i'd make a lot of people happy with my use of it

Two layers of tape under a mid size grip should do you perfect unless you look like this:
