Apologies if this has been asked before, looked thorgh old threads but couldn't find anything.
I want to connect the WII to the internet, have the Metro broadband service from Digiweb. I rang them and they said they didn't need to do anything on their end, just plug it in and set it up.
I'm still unsure of what to do though.
Can I simply buy the connection for the WII, and plug the cable into the back of the modem?
    Do I need a router?

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm not sure how the setup works on Digiweb,
I'm with Eircom and have it connected via wireless to the netopia router.

If you have the connector for the WII im guessing you can plug your network cable from the WII to your modem and play online
But...... you may still need a router to allow local IP Connections.

Sorry couldn't be much more help..
I'll check later might have another answer for you.

We connected ours to UPC/NTL using a wireless router. I don't recall any problems.

I would advise putting digiweb/metro into the title of the thread, hopefully someone with digiweb will help you out.

Only if you want to be able to use other devices on the internet at the same time as the Wii.

From my experience of having a Wii, you dont plug in your cable that you'd connect to your computer or laptop, you need a router which will broadcast your broadband as a wireless signal throughout your house, and then your wii will pick up that signal.
ive always been too cheap to buy the router cost it costs about €80.. but its worth it IMO

Everyone else feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!
