Implanon; is it the same as the Depo?

Ok, I am after having a baby and my 6 week check up is next week and one topic my doctor wants to discuss is contraception. I was on the depo injection before but without trying to sicken anyone, I bled for the entire time I was on it. And I mean 24/7 no break the entire time, what I want to know is since the implanon bar is based on progesterone just like the depo, is there a chance the bar will have the same effect? It was really uncomfortable for those 3 months and I felt terrible for the entire time.

I know I will be discussing everything with my doctor when I go in, but I rather get all the information I can so to decide what is best for me and my lifestyle.

Contraceptives are an individual choice and should be discussed with your own doctor who is best placed to discuss all options.
