Anyone ever come across this before. The dashboard is gone faulty. Speedo and rev counter all over the place. Engine managment lights on and off. A new set of clocks will cost a grand from Volvo. Has anyone got any alternative ideas? I've tried the usual route of Traynors etc for parts but to no avail...

I'm presuming it's the orignal S80? Early models have been known to be very problematic electrically. It would be worth posting a thread on this forum, an immensely helpful site for all things Volvo related: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk

Hiya - I have the same problem with my s80
I found a Polish board describing how to fix this (apparently) common problem on pre 04 s80s. Found a place nr london would replace the faulty component for a few hundred quid. Wondering if anywhere in ireland does this?
Did you have any success with yours?
