    Whats the word for flamboyant. Eg. He is a colourful, flamboyant man.....

    Any online dictionarys give me extravagant, which i dont think is the right word. And i lost my dictionary : (

    Ah lads dont be smart. Its for the feckin oral examination tomorow and i'd just thought i would throw a fancy phrase in.

    So drop er ist ghey crap as it isnt helpful at this point in time. Plus i was only was using as an example to show what contex i wanted it in.

    I'm like Jason Bourne for picking up languages. I just flicked on to a German porn site there for 5 minutes and I'm fluent.

    So here's my contribution:
    actually ...the closest translation of "flamboyant2 int Gereman would be ...

    (seenashow it's originally French and made it into both other languages unmolested.)


    The closest equivalent is indeed "extravagant" (also not a true German word)

    "auffallend" on the other hand has many other meanings not exactly congruent with flamboyant.

    (trundling down the middle of the street, pished out ouf your head, singing, with your willie hanging out is also "auffallend", but definetly not "flamboyant" )
