Garda Uniform Belt

I'm a collector of police and army memorabilia and have been for a number of years. I have an interest in police and army tie pins, caps, crests belts etc. I am looking at present for the ex garda belt. The one worn up untill the uniform change a year or two. I was wondering as this belt is now ex issue, would it be possible to acquire one either from a Garda or from a member of the public with a similar interest in such items. I would be willing to pay a good price for such a belt as I am desperate to add it to my collection. Lemme know if anyone has one or knows where I can get one.

    Thanks

I have one but unfortunately i am wearing it at the moment. If i was to give it to you my pants would fall down!

Much prefer it to the new belt. Alot of them have broken with the crest falling off.

Any Garda with 4+ years service will have the old gold belt. Im sure if you are offering money somebody will sell you one.

Are Gardai allowed to sell on uniform items? I thought this was a no-no?

Technically your correctly but a belt thats over four years old and not part of the uniform anymore that has nothing Garda related displayed on it, I think they'll be ok. After all its just a belt cant be used to impersonate a Garda.

The old Garda belt had no distinguishing features on it just a square silver buckle on black leather but there was also one which a few of the lads had with a large Garda Crest as the buckle/clasp, can't remember exactly how they got their hands on it but something in the back of my mind says the GRA. Someone who has one please correct me.

    Thanks for the replies Lads.
As regards, the Gardai having issues with Guards selling ex issue belts, there shouldnt really be a problem. I have been buying items for years as a collector. A lot of items are available on Ebay as well. I couldnt get any of you guys to name your price, if you have one? I would pay good money.

There's athread running here about uniform items being found in a car under suspicious circumstances. That should answer your question.

As deadwood suggests, the timing is very bad for this kind of request given recent events. It's entirely possible to gather bits of old Garda uniform and dress up as a Garda, all in old kit, but not many members of the public would know the difference.

I'm not suggesting that's your intent OP, but you're new to boards and it's unusual for a new user to sign-up and start offering money for pieces of a Garda uniform - even if they are not in use anymore.

    Thread closed.
