Thinking about selling up

    Hi All

just got my insurance renewal for my Evo V... €1,850! Mental money and it has made me think about selling up.

    the Car has the following:
    Piper Cams
    ViPec ECU
    Sard Fuel pressure regulator
    Warlbro fuel pump
    HKS EVC Boost controller
    HKS Induction kit/battery relocation kit.
BlueFlame Full 3 Inch Turbo Cat back exhaust system.

Car has been mapped to run on Oct 95. no detonation. produces 370bhp and 345 torque

Its also in quite good condition.
I remember looking for an Evo a couple of months back and everything I saw was TRASH!

The AYC has been serviced. Timing/balance/aux Belt done and was serviced less than 500 miles ago. tires are new, mileage is a genuine 72k KM's and NCT'd til 2010

What would I get for the above?
Probably not much I would imagine considering the car market :(

I have been thinking about turning it into a track day car, but that will require more money.. but at least I wont have to pay for insurance!? :)

FYI Mods I'm not trying to sell my car on here I just wanna value it :D

I paid the guts of €2,300 last year!

pain i the swiss! what gets me is that there are lads in the UK getting insured for £450 on evos!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭jackblack99

it wrecks my head so it does. I want an evo7, went lookin at it was delighted with it so i said i see what the damage on insurance was. I was prepared to pay up to 3k but no one would even touch me. I dunno how u managed to even get a quote outa any1.

funny you should say that, I was prepared to fork out 26k for a VIII a 2 years back
insurance was exactly the same price! (approx 2500)

can I give you some advice though mate about Evos?

they cost a fortune to Run
I bought mine for 12,500 last year. with the intention of seeing how I get on before buying an 8.

anyway, I was bitten by the modding bug + maintainence. I've since spent almost 8k on the car in a year!

that includes all of the above plus the first big service when i got here (changed every fluid in the car) 4 new tires and an Alarm and Immobiliser.

I am already saving up more money to either get the car close to 500bhp or sell it and buy a 8 or 9gt. which please god I will leave standard (ish)

seriously though mate, if you are intending on buying one make sure you have ALOT of money put aside for stuff like that.

it not for everyday use. I have a diesel car that i intend to keep untill it dies. I just want an evo for the weekend or holidays. Im not a boy racer or anything like that im just in love with the car. Every1says they cost alot to maintain but i wouldnt do a whole of drivin in the year so 2 services a year is what i was thinking.

Its a monster on petrol I hear aswel, but if u drive the stones outa it course it gona be bad. I only hear the bad things about it but it must be good if so many people drive one

    I love my Evo mate!

    LOVE IT!
have you ever been in one?

Best car I have ever had!
I've been in a 9gt also and they are even more fun! I also use mine only on the weekends pretty much!

So much fun, but the fun comes at a price :(.... €1850 in my case!
wait another year mate, when your 24 quinn should ensure you!.

PS dont buy white.. bugger to keep clean!

What sort of price have you in your head? The V's seem to be holding there value a bit more than the IV's because of the more reliable engine.

In this market though nothing is selling so if you really want to get rid your gonna have to take a big hit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭B00MSTICK

xpierienceYou'll definitely take a massive hit, and of course you'll never get the money you've spent on those mods back.

I'd try to stick it out if I were you.

I assume you'd go for a car with at least a decent amount of performance as a replacement? So you might be paying up to a grand insurance anyway?

If you spent so much time/effort/money on it it'd be a shame to only experience it for just a year too.

You clearly like it so if it's just the insurance would you consider not insuring it this year, and buying a crapbox to get you from a to b?

I doubt very much I will sell it but was just trying to gauge its value.

I might turn it into a Time Attack Car in December, if I have the Money.
    Varis Wide Arch Aero Kit
and a 2.3 Stroker with an FP Red Maybe.
should get 500bhp out of it.

want it to look like this:
    2005283198101623596_rs.jpg
    2006161922966259777_rs.jpg
    2005261058450599299_rs.jpg

Then I would probably buy a Nissan Nivara to tow it to Mondello and back!

dude if you're talking about pumping crazy amounts of money into turning it into a tima attack car because you cant afford insurance? makes no sence imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,863 ✭✭✭Beta Ray Bill

    It make perfect sense mate.

    I can afford the insurance....
Just because I have the money doesn't mean I should be handing it over to Mr Quinn.

    €1850 is exceptionally poor value.

Insurance on my car for me would be approx £400 in the Uk. it's 4 times that price here.
    It's a total RIP-OFF!

And mate I'm not having a stab at you ok... but it is that attitude which has this country in the mess its in at the moment.
IE Just handing over ridiculous ammounts money for crap services without even looking at other options available. Irish people are so easy to split from their cash.

Convert the car into a race machine!
    do it!

as much as I love to see evos on the road, I much prefer to see them tearing up a track.

I'll have to see how the cash situation is.
would be nice though wouldn't it!?

the pics I posted are of a Varis cyper Evo. running a JUN 2.2 Stroker.

the AI-Autosport 2.3L Stroker will be amazing! (If I get it)

It's not meant to look good.

i cant understand how one broker can get a better price than the other. Are they not using all the same insurance companies anyway. My broker wouldnt insure me on the evo. They sed no company would quote on that car because its a grade 7 car or some sh*te like that

Because one broker is obviously taking more than his fair share!

i suppose ye. Did u ever hear of not being quoted because of the grade of the car

Aye, very common case with high end cars depending on age etc. etc.
