    04 Audi A41.9TDI (130BHP) 54,000miles 1 owner from new

    €9,500 + 02 1.4 VW Bora?

Local dealership (none of your main dealer bull****) agreed to change timing belt & do a full service. Also fill of diesel & some "luck back"

Is this a good deal? - those of you in the know?

Well with the way prices have gone pear shaped the real question is are you happy with the deal.

Doesnt seem as bad as I would have thought given the info you gave about your Bora in previous thread

no clueless sales men who don't give a fu*ck.

Not charging YOU to pay for their big window'd showrooms and the clueless sales mans ridiculous bonuses etc

do you really need to ask?

Being charges another 10% for the sign over the door.

That doesn't sound like a brilliant deal, not a rip off though from what I see, there are a few 04 A4s out there for €10k (was sorely tempted on one only a couple of weeks ago).

Well they're not a main dealer, so it must be a good deal...

I just find it funny that you've come on asking "those of you in the know" for opinions on the pricing, and in the same post slated all main dealers.

Did you not consider that a lot of the people "in the know" who are on boards to help you are working in the motor industry, a lot of them in main dealers?

Thank you Chris. It ironic really that this person seems to know what a rip off is but hasnt got a bogs notion whats good value. Bit of a paradox really. I know what Im talking about when it comes to the motor trade except for the most simple of questions. Answer your own question Eddie, do you think its good value?

€9,500 on a straight deal sounds a bit pricey to me for a 5 year old Audi. Last month we sold a Multitronic model with leather and 102,000km for €10,500.

Sounds like a non-main dealer rip off to me.

Ah, but portakabins are expensive to rent these days, didnt you know that ROR?

    Sound like a generalisation, anyone?

ROR it not a straight deal its a trade (see above)

I am happy enough with the deal but wanted to get a feel for what others "in the know" think of it?

My own personal opinion is that main dealers are far too expensive - sales parts service - across the board!

I would have been very nieve if i though those working in the motor industry would not commented on this as most of them sit around in offices all day on the internet as they have no customers! ;)

So you're looking to trade help for insults, is that it?

I think R.O.R's point is that you could have bought a higher spec car for €10,500 straight, so even €9,500 is too much for a straight purchase of the car you're describing.

If €9,500 is too much for a straight purchase, then €9,500 + a Bora is definitely too much...

I'm not busy today, it's true, but I was prepared to spend some of my idle time to help you with your query.

It turns out I've just become to busy to participate in this thread or to lend you any assistance or advice.

Go buy your car, you have your mind made up. Leave us poor motor industry folk to sit in our offices in peace.

There's no peace in my office at the minute anyhow...:D Plenty of cheap Audi a4 Tdi's with around 50k miles on em sitting outside too. Ah, if only i could find someone to sell them to. I suppose around €9500 + a trade in should do the trick.... ;)

Now that's PROPER BS!!! I doubt if anybody in the country is doing that amount of units.

Some "luck back"? Does your local dealer live in a caravan? ;)

On a serious note, be very careful with that purchase. The 1 owner bit... is that 1 owner in Ireland? Do a history check on it, double-check the mileage. I almost got stung with an '03 A4 TDi which turned out to have a lot more miles than the clock showed. There was also finance owing on it in the UK. And this was from a car dealer here who claims to be "Consumer Affairs Approved"....

Make sure it has a spare key, full service history and all the bits and pieces like the jack etc.. If it's missing any of that, I'd walk personally.

    "Consumer Affairs Approved"....

Thats a new one on me . Thats brill :D Was there an * anywhere

    * = Actual statement may not be true

Lol that's hilarious, and so true.

The old 'rip-off' statements being thrown around a lot here.

Think about it though OP, it's only a rip-off if you agree to pay for it.

I think you've got a sweet spot for this 'local dealer' that you're oh-so-convinced is not trying to rip you off which has clouded your judgement... yet these bull****ters from the main dealers have just shown you how he's not giving you a good deal at all? (unless 'luck' is worth 2 grand in your area).
