'Sole' Anti-blister Running Socks

Bought a pair of 'Sole' Anti-blister running socks over the weekend and they are great if you suffer from blisters while running. Before buying them I was plagued with blisters on the soles of my feet and on the tips of my toes. My runners were the correct size, the problem was simply that my feet are quite soft.

I did my longest run to date, an 18 miler, in these 'Sole' socks on Saturday and my feet felt perfect in them both during the run and afterwards, no new blisters or damage to existing ones.

Paid €17.95 for 2 pairs in the Edge Sports Shop on North Main St in Cork, am sure most running shops would stock them.

Hope this helps some of you out.

Thanks for that trotter inc, i suffer really badly from blisters, particularly on the arch of my foot down towards the front of my foot. Will definitely give those 'sole' socks a try!

I've been wearing them for about 2.5 years. They are excellent and worth the money. The sizes are a bit small. I go for the size 13-16 and have size 11 feet and have size 12 runners.

I find the 1000 mile socks good too. Rubbing some vaseline on your feet before a long run works for me as well.

I used to use these before the sole socks. It's the difference between a lada and a merc -

I seen those in the shop too and was going to try them but the 'anti-blister' caption on the Sole socks sold it for me :)

Have been in blister hell for the past 3/4 weeks. In my past running regimes, i never got them. Thought it was down to the footware - as my asics were due for a change - and the lining had just come loose on one of them on the week that it kicked up. Replaced immedialy with another pair and thought that would be it sorted.
That wasn't the case. So...got my hands on some of the 'aldi running socks' which were availalbe recently. They reckoned they were anti blister - so was hoping this would sort it out ...but not the case.

I guess I need to use these sole anti blister socks. Does anyone know a place online where I can order them up??? I'm in the arse end of knowwhere here so trying to get them in a bricks and mortar shop right now is not practical.

Have read somewhere that people also use tape to solve this problem? Didnt fully understand this - so if anyone can explain further, I'd appreciate it.

Must get back to limping around work now...

Call the Edge Sports shop in Cork on 021-4806040 or check out their site www.theedge-sports.com

You can buy them on a website called www.syoursole.com but they are cheaper in the Edge.

I used to run in Asics and get blisters on my arches. It doesn't happen any more since I switched to New Balance. When I got a blister and still wanted to run I used to put a dollop of Vaseline on the blister (burst at this stage and the top skin removed) and surround this with a big square adhesive plaster (the sort you get in individual packs in the chemist for wound dressing - Tesco do their own brand) and then tape this up with white zinc oxide (physio) tape. I know it sounds like a lot but I was able to run so I was happy. I wouldn't avocate that you do the same but it worked for me.

Ulitmately I had to ask myself the question why I was getting blisters - the answer was that the Asics were the wrong shape for my feet and were rubbing against the foot. I can't change my feet so I changed my shoes.

just on the 1000 mile socks........... imo the stated sizes always seem too small and tight !.

Thanks folks. Just ordered up off Edge. Christ, they're expensive - but if they sort the problem, I'll not be whinging abou the price. Foot in agony today.

My problem is blisters on the arches too - and wearing asics. Only thing is I've always worn asics and never had a problem with blisters before now...

Hope these sort it as i've been going steadily backwards over the last three weeks.

Those socks are brillant. Was really bothered by blisters until i got a pair 3 weeks ago. Did 22 miles on my longest run with them and not a blister. Well worth the cost in my view.

I really hope your right - walking about at work was agony yesterday!

And I hope they arrive soon - my training routine has slowly going to pieces. Didn't get any confirmation mail form Edge...hope thats just their policy..

I've been using dunnes stores white sports socks for the last 18months,totally blister free since. They are 4e for 5 pairs :) and i used them in DCM 08 also.I use a brand new pair whenever racing cos they are so cheap.Give them a try as i couldn't believe they would work so well for that price and you will only lose 4e anyway if they don't work for you.

@hawkwing: Will wait for these ones to arrive now. Have tried the aldi ones which claim to be anti blister and no joy so might as well wait. Like you I never used to have trouble before - and although my newly acquired asics are a different model no., it looks like they're based on the same last - like the gels i've used before.

Those Dunnes store ones fit my price bracket better ! Thanks Hawkwing, will be investing in them this weekend.

How did these socks work out.

I'd been getting blisters and need to get some decent socks.

Its 1000 mile VS sole anti blister ?????

Emmm HTFU and buy shoes that fit. no need for fancy socks.

    HTFU ???

I have asics that i find great. I had nike and they caused me awful problems and pain to be honest.

I just get blisters on runs over 5 miles and it can play havoc with a training schedule.

I'm new to all this so open to all help.

Completely disagree tunney, that's a far too broad statement to make. I have runners that fit me perfectly, if I use crap socks (like cheap ones from Dunnes) then I get blisters, if I use quality socks then I don't get blisters...simple as!

I was the opposite in the asics vs nike problem, I switched from asics to nike and have never gone back to asics, depends on your feet shape, etc, etc...not even going to try give you a better answer why :)

Your feet will toughen up, in my opinion Sole antibister socks were a Godsend and a great investment. I haven't got blisters since wearing them.

I pay €17 for 2 pairs in Cork.

You should be able to find them in any dedicated running or triathlon shop.
