Who's your favorite for this masters?

Given his form, I back Nadal

Men's draw can be found here

    Women's draw is here

Very hard to look beyond Nadal after watching him in Indian Wells. With Djokovic a bit out of sorts and Simon and Tsonga not standing out at the moment, the draw looks to have fallen fairly nicely for Federer. I expect Murray to be stronger this tournament and think he will meet Nadal in the semis where I'd be hoping he can put up more of a fight.

In the womens I pick Serena Williams to beat Azarenka in the final.

Nadal to take mens for sure.
In womens its harder to call.
Looks very likely that an all Williams semi is on the cards in top half.
Bottom half is wide open which could result in a Bartoli v Pennetta semi!! Odd choice i know, but both are doing well this season and i don't trust the 3 russians and Ivanovic who are top 4 seeds in that half to even reach semis.

Serena to beat Pennetta in final is my call!

    Dent v Federer live here:

    http://www.atdhe.net/live-tv-5656.html

2-2 with Federer serving, but Dent has break point #6 in this game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭juvenal

Fed just took shy of 15 minutes to hold serve in game # 5 of the first set, with Dent taking 8 break points.

Doesn't look like he's playing well or with any confidence at all, although it will be interesting to see how Dent reacts to those missed chances now.

Dent gives Federer one break point which the Swiss duly converts, and then holds serve, and before you know it Dent is down 2-5 and serving to stay in the set.

Dent holds impressively to love, before Fed subsequently serves out the set also without dropping a point, winning 6-3.

Federer wins with an ace to seal the match at his third attempt, with Dent saving two match points from 0-40. Final 6-3, 6-2.

The scoreline flattered Federer a bit, as there wasn't a huge gap between the two. Certainly Federer was extremely lucky not to have been broken in the first set at 2-2, although those eight break points that Dent had were to be his only of the match. Federer's ability to raise his game to the required level was the main difference between the two, and he moves through to the quarter-finals to meet Andy Roddick, who earlier beat Monfils 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

Nadal - Del Potro 1/4 final just started: http://www.atdhe.net/live-tv-5656.html

Three hours and one minute, and it's Juan Martin Del Potro who advances to the semi-final after an epic match with world number 1 Rafael Nadal.

    6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3)

Nadal was ahead a double break in the third set leading 3-0 with a service game to come, and seemingly coasting to victory, before Del Potro stormed back winning the next four games on the trot to lead 4-3. Nadal saved three break points down 4-5, and it's followed serve before going to the tiebreak.

Del Potro played fantastic in the first set, keeping Nadal pinned to the baseline and having to scoop shots out from under his feet, with Del Potro finding some great length to his forehand shots, landing a lot of them right inside the baseline and keeping Nadal on the back foot. Nadal came back into in the second, and then looked to be heading to a win, before the drama of the third set.

The remaining 1/4 final of Murray v Verdasco next, live on the stream above.

    Semi-final line-up:

    Roger Federer v Novak Djokovic
Juan Martin Del Potro v Andy Murray/Fernando Verdasco

    Great match!:D
del Potro showed why he's a threat to others! Really made Nadal work in the first set!

Yeah it was pretty exciting. I thought Del Potro was going to take it in two after he broke Nadal again early in the second to go 2-1 up and a service game coming, but he lost his serve to level it again at 2-2.

Djokovic v Federer coming up now at 1.00pm EST (that's 6pm Irish).

Once again it's Irishman Fergus Murphy in the chair, as he was for the Del Potro-Nadal match yesterday.

Federer takes the first set 6-3. After breaking Djokovic twice to lead 5-1 and serve for the set, he then lost his serve, although took the second opportunity to serve out after a Djokovic hold.

Second set just about to start.

Despite being up one set Federer is playing $hit.

Djokovic just won the 2nd set 6-2

Shocking from Federer there in the second set, you'd wonder where his head is at.

Djokovic playing far from well also, but appears not making as many errors as Federer. Federer only won 39% of his service points in the second set - very poor compared to Djokovic's stats.

You'd have to fancy Djokovic from here, with the service honour, and also he's looking a little mentally stronger that Federer.

Djokovic holds serve in the first game, breaks Fed immediately, and holds again to take a 3-0 lead in the third. He's won 23/27 points in the third set.

Federer just messed up another routine forehand, blasting it into the net from mid-court - should have been a winner. He then smashed his racquet into the ground in Safinesque fashion. I can't remember Federer losing it like that!

Big service game for Fed here, and he loses his serve again to fall 4-0 behind with Djokovic serving. This is a spectacular collapse, can't see Fed coming back from here.

    Djokovic defeats Federer 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Djokovic played well in parts, more intelligent tennis than great shot-making. Federer played well up to 5-1, took his chance to win the first set at the second attempt, and it was all Djokovic after that.

Federer's forehand was appalling, he made well over 20 errors off that side, with 47 unforced errors in total. He looks to be in serious need of a coach, or perhaps a Bob Rotella type person in his staff, because as it is both his technical game and his mental game are diminishing rapidly.

Credit to Djokovic, he hung in there and played smart tennis and deserved the win. Federer was extremely poor for most of the match, and if he was in anyway on form he would've beaten Djokovic, but that's all speculation. That being said, it was a poor match, and I can't see Djokovic overcoming the winner of the Murray/Del Potro semi-final.

    Murray up a set on Del Potro, with serve so far in the second;

    6-1, 2-2

Andy Murray advances to meet Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final after defeating Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

I strongly fancy Murray to win, after seeing most of the second and third sets tonight. It was a good match, with a lot more winners ending points rather than the error-fest that was the earlier semi-final.

Speaking of, here's Federer's meltdown earlier:

And the Scot takes the opening set 6-2 in 33 minutes. No suprise at his dominance given the calibre of the two semi-finals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭juvenal

Andy Murray wins the title 6-2, 7-5.

Totally dominated the first set, and after breaking Djokovic's serve in game one of the second set, looked to be cruising.

Djokovic rallied back then, playing better but it also looked as if Murray took his foot off the accelerator. Djokovic led 5-2 and looked to be forcing a third set, before Murray won the next 5 games on the trot, serving out for his third tour title of the year.

Just looking at the Federer clip. Wow!! I've never seen him so angry and frustrated before!! He knows he should have played much better in the match. Hope he gets himself together soon!!
    Bring back mellow Federer!!!
