If anyone is traveling to Edinburgh for the marathon on Saturday via Ryanair, they have just moved the flight from Saturday morning to 10pm Saturday night (after registration has closed). Aer Lingus is offering return flights (Saturday morning -> Monday evening) for 100 euro return.

I've just applied for my flight refund.. Never again....

I was just looking at flights yesterday(still haven't booked my flights and accommodation as I'm an idiot ). Was going to go over on the Friday morning till Monday night. Do ryanair give a refund when that happens?

Hopefully! Yes, they're supposed to offer a full refund if the flight time changes by more than 2-3 hours. Or else you can take a credit note. :)

I've heard about those Ryanair credit notes, printed on crackers.....
Don't ever fly with them, useless and never work out cheaper than Aer Lingus or bmi etc.
The €10 you think you are saving going with them will be spent 5 times over on other charges when they have you jumping through hoops to get where you are going.

That's completly untrue. I have been flying about 15/20 times per year for the last 5/6years with Ryanair. I always compare Ryanair and Aer Lingus prices. Only twice AerLingus was marginally cheaper.
    Just my experience.

Factor in the cost of the train/bus from whatever airport ryanair leaves you at to where you should arrive and it can add another €40 to the trip.

I'd love to be able to say I'll never fly them again but when it comes down to it they cover a lot more of Europe than anyone else so you're kind of stuck with them.

Accommodation booked now, had booked something else a while ago but ended up cancelling it as my tag alongers from Connemara(who didn't see me finish btw) also wanted to come so I had to cancel that. Now I thought, **** it, have to book and have got a nice b 'n' b just off Princes Street for £150 for three nights. Nice little(lonely0 holiday for me in Edinburgh at the end of May. :D Anyone else other than me and Krusty doing this one?

Lonely?! Just you and 11,499 other runners! Slogger Jogger, Glennhysen, Rovers Runner and kingQuez are doing it too (I think). We'll have a right old party afterwards!

Yes they do. The very same thing happened to me when I was planning to go over to the World XC in Edinburgh last year. I got an e-mail on the Tuesday/Wednesday before notifying me of the change, which meant I would have been flying over after the entire event had finished!

I wrote them a letter, as I couldn't find an address, and got an e-mail a couple of days later informing me that I had been refunded in full (as I was entitled to).

I was really looking forward to going as well, but the flights were too expensive that close to the event to re-book.

Wahey I finally get to go to Boards post-race beers. Although yee will probably be finished long before me. Depending how the next 10 weeks go(well 9 as I don't plan to do any running till Sunday/Monday) I'm thinking of aiming for a sub 4.

I'm running Edinburgh as well and got an email this morning telling me that our flight on Friday lunchtime is moved to 6.30am! So we're going to have a very early start on the friday. At least the marathon is on the Sunday.

Although from reading the other posts it sounds like the people travelling on Saturday are going to have it alot worse.

I'll probably be on that ryanair flight on the friday morning too, I've booked the Friday to monday so it'll be early friday morning to late monday night for me. Lots of drinking in Edinburgh on the monday yeah? :D

Edit: Actually, I usually only do short haul flights as there's only a slight difference in prices, who would be better for flying with for my luggage? I know ryanair are counts as regards to the weight of luggage going into the hold?
