how it's going, I've an eletronic tuner but can't make head's or tails of it, its deals in notes, but i'm not sure what notes correspond to which string, there's more than six notes on it aswel which confuses matters, here they are.. A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G#

    any help would be appreciated

Assuming you want to tune your guitar in normal tuning the strings should be tuned to E,B,G,D,A,E. Reading from left to right, those notes are in order from highest to lowest pitch (ie the thinnest to thickest string). If you wanted to play along with a song that's tuned half a step down then the strings should be tuned to D#, A#, F#, C#, G#, D#.

As for specific help with the tuner itself, it depends on the model. Some of them you have to select the string that your are tuning, others will detect the string automatically.

this is one of the tuner which you select which string your tuning, except i don't no which note corresponds to which string because there's more than 6 notes

So what happens when you set the tuner to E and then play either the highest or the lowest string on your guitar? How does it tell you when you're in or out of tune?

Like I said in my previous posts, from highest to lowest pitch (ie the thinnest to thickest string) the open strings should be tuned to E, B, G, D, A, E.

Hi the notes on your tuner A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G# do not correspond to the strings on the guitar, they are simply every note in music!

For your guitar, the tuning as above poster said is E A D G B E from the fattest string to the thinnest. that tuning is called standard tuning and is what most songs are played in!

so when you pluck the fattest string it should either come up saying "E" if tuned right or you may have to select "E" on your tuner and the twist the tuner until the needle is in the middle!

Sorry to hi-jack but i have a boss tu2 and when i tune the low E string to E on the tuner is out of tune but when i tune it without the tuner off the A string and go back to the tuner issays its tunes to F even though its clearly E.

    Whats going on???

 That sounds very odd. Are you saying that E on the tuner doesn't match E in reality? Do all the other strings tune correctly off the tuner? Have you got another source you can check e.g. pitch pipes, a piano or another guitar that you are sure is tuned perfectly?

Also, I know it is stating the obvious but are you 100% sure that your A string is tuned to A? I've occasionally been merrily twisting a tuning peg and wondering why the pitch didn't change only to subsequently realise I was twisting the wrong one :).

sounds to me like the key on your tuner is changed!

if its a chromatic tuner(not familiar with the boss one) then make sure the key is set to C.

If thats not the problem then im stumped!
